Beautiful Sunday in Chicago and so a great day for MD. Went back to the new section of the woods that had been given wheaties and a buffalo, but no silver. Well, today I finally got a silver signal and it happened to be my VERY FIRST 1916 BARBER DIME  Clapp  Rider. I could not believe my eyes when that little shiny circle made its bright appearance from the darkness of the ground.  Laola But the Barber was not alone. It had company all of those years underground, an incredible 1900 Indian Head cent also came out from the same hole Musican
Jackpot!! Victory. I also found a 1926 wheaty, two old bottles, a fancy looking old Rogers fork, a full set of keys (house & car keys included No no!) lost many years ago, and a casino token, all to be shown later. My wife just found a monster horse shoe, dang that thing is the mother of all horse shoes and it was deep like hell!  Devil. I'll show in a separate post too. Nice afternoon in the woods  Beer Chug

I love Barbers. A lot of people don't care for them, but I think they are really neat.  Kiss

I think it is because Barbers are not easy to find. This is my second year MDing and have found a number of Mercuries and Rosies, but never a Barber. I know that the coin usually comes out worn, but it has several key dates and even in worn conditions they may score hundreds of $$. Thanks for looking.  Wink

Great finds Cyber!  I've found a few Barber coins over the years and they're always a thrill (of course any silver is)!  Like wb4rav, I like Barbers, too!  Thanks for sharing with us!  Keep on swingin'!   Detecting

Thanks. Like you I love to find silver and it is a though silver finds me as well  Grin. I had a brief chat with a folk I met on Saturday while detecting at the site. He used to detect with an Explorer and asked me if I had found a Barber yet. I replied, no, not yet. And look at that, the very next day I hit it!  Cool

Nice finds.  It's also nice that you and your sweetie have a pastime that you can enjoy together.  BTW, if I lived in Chicago, I'd be out in the woods too on a Sunday afternoon, since there's nothing worth watching on tv this time of year  Wink
