tossing whole cartridges in a campfire is also a treat, watch out for the casings not the bullets lol. A little trick I picked up as a kid, it wasnt easy keeping me and 2 other boys supplied with beer and ammo to keep us out of mom and dads hair lol. Ah the good old days, I'm surprised I survived! Funny

The bullet in the fire trick is great, except you do not know which way it will fire Grin

we used to place the bullets onto a tin plate and heat the plate... oh boy, that bullet does make a mess of things Funny

I only did that with .22's, but it was the casings that got us! lol and yep, a drunken teenager will do stuff like that!

Homefire, you talking about sand stone exploding... I have heard of a house that caught on fire in England that was built of sand stone, and some of the bricks actually exploded injuring people, the firemen had to soak the bricks in water to cool them down to stop the reaction....

Xavier, HA! "a resistor found its way in in transport" I thought so. something rolling around on the board. Worst one I had was a ham receiver that was stored with a ball of steel wool. 2 or 3 fine steel wool hairs found their way into the case through the battery compartment. I had to completely disassemble it and use a magnifying lens and tweezers to get them all...I'm surprised to hear the gunpowder was still viable. I would have thought by now the saltpeter would have leached out but I guess not in that dry climate of S.A. Good luck with the cheese course. Sounds like something Pgill could get into but then Peter gets into everything!

Pgill, I'm registered as hairu2 which was the name I used when I opened my youtube account. The site won't let me register as gambol. I'm guessing you must be a web page designer or something not just a hacker like myself.

As for your thingy, I would say stirrup at first but its not big enough, second choice is a handle on a strap that was attached to something bulky.

Avision, Opal is the real bad guy in a fire. Here in Florida we have a lot of opalized quartzite pebbles. That explode when heated rapidly. Opal is quartz with water locked inside the crystal. When the water gets hot. Pow! When I was a kid we intentionally threw pebbles in the fire. In case you were wondering they are no good for gemstones. That type of opal is rather rare but the other type is common and often found in geodes....gambol

I am not a hacker, but have learnt lots of neat tricks that hackers use, and software to learn computers...... I have done a fair amount of web design, and a little visual basic etc... I just have a lot that I have learnt, always studying different things for more brains Laughing

I have made cheese before, but not on a big scale Wise

I also think it is a loop for a strap on a bag... maybe a big leather bag or something Great
