Hello Ladies and Gentlemen !
Just arrived back to land of Jolly Julius from 4 weeks long trip to Poland ! I was sitting , reading whole night yours last stories ! Many new happenings ! I believe , Peter still in England ? I was suspecting something , because I could feel some waves of greed for gold coming from that direction - all over the Europe ! I took my Minelab Excalibur with me and that can create interesting situations on the airport security check-point , especially , if one go thru Germany -  this guys dont have much sens of humor ! - but ,that another story ! Poland was for centuries , one big Battlefield - wherever you touch ground with yours MD ,immediately start getting bullets , shells ,even hand grenades (!)  - first it is exciting than scary and later boring ! Next time I will bring somebody from here for digging ! Also recovered in my hometown part of my old military collection ! Got some photos and will send them later . For now I am happy to be back , just need some rest ( from the airport I went  straight to the bush for 24 h duty ! ) Good luck !

Hey welcome back Mate

I found the the German authorities to be the most unfriendly bunch that I have ever met (sorry Christian) but what a beautiful country Not Berlin but the out skirts closer to Belgium is where I went later I did go to Berlin but like every big town it's horrid to me I'm a country boy LOL

I got an email from the British authorities begging me to take Peter back but I said that they could keep him and that we don't really want him back here any how. So they told me that he was detecting in the museum.........for his so called lost GOLD COINS I always thought that there was something not right with that boy you know Grin Grin

Any how I'm on my sisters farm at the moment so perhaps the three of us could go out detecting together some time?

All the best
Xavier

Hi X-man ! Good to hear U !
Just before I left to Poland I was in J-Bay ,but just for the night - I was support driver for a team of my friends doing Baviaan's Kloof 24 h mountain bike race. I supposed to also ride the race but with my cripple arm it was difficult to drive even the Jeep thru those ravines and rivers ! It was VERY beautiful and VERY difficult race (24 h non-stop , 230 km ! ) Next year I am definitely in myself ! We finished in J-Bay , I had nice swim in rather COLD ocean - but very refreshing ! I was hoping to find U on the beach with MD ! Yes , we Must definitely get together for little bit of soil digging and some Vodka testing , while U around ! Just give me a call - can be during the week - does no matter ! I am busy preparing some nice photos , will start attaching them soon ! Cheers ! Cheesy

Silki, be interested in seeing your photos. I know what you mean about detecting in a war zone. Modern warfare is a bane to metal detecting.

Xavier, how's the cheese making coming. You made your first batch yet?

Pgill, I heard England swings, sounds like you agree.

Hi Gambol !
I brought many pictures , also re - discovered my old military collection left in old country over 22 years ago ! It was nice surprise to find it is still in my family house ! I will post some stories with the pictures as regularly as I can - connection depending !
Here are some photos of the bunkers line on the II WW border between Poland and Germany - it saw heavy fighting and thousands of casualties ! Wood inside still from WW2 !

Silki, Poland's standing up to the invading Nazis was one of the most heroic actions of the war. Gambol

Thanks Gambol !
Unfortunately price we payed was very high ! I was very happy and proud to try to dig and preserve at list few items from that time and I will keep it for ever as a memories of that horrible time !

Unfortunately I could spend only few hours around that fortifications ! But place is only about 100 Km from my old home so next year I am going to be back with serious plan ! Looks like fighting was heavy and brutal , because I got mix ( lots !) of normal rifle rounds, pistol rounds, antyaircraft (?) rounds ,some other amunition - even the live one ! Got also few handles from hand - grenades and - the worst one - unexploded hand-grenade which I managed to hit with my digging tool ! ( didnt know what is in the soil ! ) After that I called a day ! Next time I will be more careful and better prepared ! I am busy now preparing ( shrinking ) the photos !

O.k !
Got few photos of some of my finds - some have been cleaned, some still with the dirt. Amazingly, I think, because soil there is sandy and very dry, some items are almost like new ! Some shells are shining brass just after cleaning with the towel !
