BA, we did drive up through Waimea, up to the Kahua Ranch and had a steak dinner there and played cowboy games, etc for an evening.  Took a bus excursion on that one!  Beautiful country up there!  But it did get cool up on the mountainside that night!

Peter, I'm gonna be thiinking about what is worse for a while...    a bird or X!  No offense, X, but...  I'm so confused...   !

Well, Gambol1, a night on the beach in Hawaii is almost worth a lifetime!  I never thought I would ever go there, but this trip is my fifth time!  I've never been able to afford it but wife and I just decided we were gonna go, re-routed some resources, and went!   You might make it back somtime!  Good luck!

Picture is of the wife and I after the helicopter ride over the volcano.               Wise

Arfie you went on vacation and went someplace exotic and exiting? I never thought of that, I always head to the woods. Guess thats why I haven't ever been anywhere  Cheesy

Peter I was looking at the coins you posted and wondering how they got to SA, then I remembered you were moving ( I hasn't been around much lately). Still amazing finds Smiley I would love to md some of those places with history. Nothing wrong with a bit of bird watching right? It's bird hunting what gets folk in trouble...

Xav will get that detector going I'm betting. Kinda surprised he isn't out on his roof building a reciever tower or something to speed his internet up.  Grin

You wont believe this but I even made some sort of crazy internet dish  Angry damn internet LOL Got the detector working with no shield, if I shield it I have no joy SO I'm going to do things like I normally do and that's my way, here is my recipe - coil wound on a former of the correct diameter, NO glue but tied with dental floss, wrapped with insulation tape (I call it installation tape) then wrapped with tin foil, Now another turn of installation tape, back to reform it on a cone then in the mold and epoxied THAT'S the way to do it, no easy way around it maties.

How are you securing the Wire to the Foil?

I use Automotive Window Defroster Repair .    It's conductive and something in it gets through through the Oxides of the Aluminum and makes contact.

Grin Grin Grin Grin Haaa now that's my hero you're talking about there mate. Tooo bad he did not get to conclude his experiment on electrical transmission. It has been done by me using PI and a huge coil. I was working on a frequency collection system at one time too.

Sorry homefire

You posted just as I was going too. I have a piece of copper wire weaved in the housing (remember that I'm using a graphite spray) the coil housing is made of cardboard then shielded with a graphite spray, as these are just experimental coils the support material is of no concern, but glue dose not work for me. I have found that the inductance goes for a loop, frequency will remain but that's normal, the problem is that the phase shift will not be at the amount of degrees that I require in order to have the correct discrimination and ground balance. These are all problems related to inductance not to frequency. There are a lot of parameters to respect when making a coil and yes even the resistance of the coil is important (I'm not putting this down for you but for any one that may be read this post) the length of wire will give you your frequency, amount of turns is the inductance and the diameter of the wire the resistance. I don't know if GD would agree with me on all of my point but from my experience with coils this is about it Ho there are other things but I'm not going to go into that right now

One of mine too Xav. I'm always impressed by people who are told they can't do something then just do it anyway...

I still pop in now and again Arfie but usually there are 10k posts to read by then...  Shocked
