We're supposed to hit 91 F (32.78 C) today here in the greater Phoenix area with weekend temperatures forecasted to be north of 95 (35 C).....less than a month after dealing with a very rare snowfall inside the urban area

That's gotta tweak your system a bit. I was convinced it was going to be tshirt weather all winter then December went all crazy cold and now it's been 60ish again. 95 though that's just too hot for my blood in March.

yeah, but the northern border of Texas gets ice and snow far more often than does Phoenix.   Usually we get one or two days a year where we can see a dusting on the mountains around town but almost never anything in the metropolitian area.

xavier, I always wondered what a farthing was. I had the idea it was some kind of mythical unit that meant "close to worthless". today I looked it up.

"The current decimal penny, which was introduced when decimalisation of the British coinage took effect in 1971, is almost the same size as the last farthings to be minted, but at one hundred pence to the pound it is nominally worth 9.6 times as much. However, as of 2010, inflation has given the current British decimal penny a purchasing power of less than half that of a farthing as it was on the eve of the latter's withdrawal in 1960." ....this is the British farthing but I guess the SA is similar, or is it?

In real terms I guess the farthing is worth more now than it ever has been. Our copper pennies (pre 1984) are getting that way now. the copper in them is worth more than the face value ever was.

BA. You said it. W.F. was the weather armpit of the nation...The year I went out there 1979, a third of the town got blown away by a tornado. the population dropped from over a hundred thousand to around ninty thousand in the years after the tornado. First thing I did when I got there was dig a storm shelter.

Why do you wrap it in tin foil? That seems like it would completely shield the RF and change the electrical properties of the coil.??
