Technos, I never said the Patent Office web site as wrong or incorrect. What I said is that there's only basic information there. There's not enough information that will explain the rights of CURRENT patent holders. For that, you need to dig deeper and hire a patent attorney. Also, I said quite clearly that if the Internet is your ONLY source of information, you are sadly misinformed and ignorant of reality. Reality is different from what you believe.

Unfortunately, you know just enough to give some really bad advice and seem to have a penchant for assuming that a patent is both more technically viable than it really is and that a patent is in the public domain. It is neither. You cannot use it to reverse engineer a project nor to "figure out" the workings of proprietary products.

You do make up for it though in being a genuine helpful kind of fellow. You'll do.

Hi pwh - There should be a place for three 6v cells using the same clips as nine volts do. This is an old thread that nobody pays attention (thankfully). There are specific forums here related to hardware that I encourage you to repost this question anew to make sure I have it right! I think it takes three of these batteries;

I owned and used a Coinscanner Pro for a while and it was a good coin and jewelry hunting machine. The meter would lock onto a find and the meter wouldn't change till the coil was swung over another target...a really good detector.

Go Up Go Down

Hello there,
This is my first post on the forum. I am Belgium, and yes Compass Detectors  were a legend.
I bought mine at the very late eighties.  The scanner 650 I think. It was one with the automatic ground balance. Only a few years later the coinscanner-pro came out with there non automatic ground balance. I remember after I bought my compass scanner, at least 5 other friends bought Compass as detector. They were really fantastic. I remember quite well that tests at that time showed that Compass was leader . A coin was placed in the middle of a plastic tube-ring which was filled with iron dust ( Huh?), a coin was placed under a thick roman roof brick tile (almost 1"), .... that was no problem for Compass. At the same tests, Tesoro, whites, and others where invited to do the same ....  These demonstrations where held at some metal detector ralleys.
It is a pitty, they had some very good detectors. At the begining the had some very bad disk
cable quallity ,I remember, we had several cables that broke. But then they put on the black
reinforced cable. Another minor thing they had was the cable connectors at the detector case. To fragile also.
I still have my compass scanner, although he does not work anymore? and I do not know what can be the problem.
Not very longtime ago, I did manage to find out a firm in Italy who makes  great publicity for
Compass and still sells them. But when I wrote  if they wanted to look at mine, suddenly my scanner was to old !!
So if someone  there can tell me , who can take a look at my scanner,I will be very pleased to
here.
At the moment I search with  Tesoro bandido II and Excalibur 1000.

Keep swinging that detector .....

Hello, Catamundus, and welcome to THunting.com.   I really like your avatar and appreciate your input on the old compass scanner.  We're looking forward to frequent posts from you.

Eugene52 hi, (sorry for my English)
i am new at the forum. I am interested to buy a metal detector, allthow a friend of mine told me that he can give me his old "Compass Judje 2 automatic" which is damaged (i beleive a transistor is missing or something). The problem is that he has't the manual so i can locate the right item. I see that you said in the first page :

"Hello mdiede57. Over the years there were only 3 compass schematics that I have seen on the internet .
1. Judge I
2. Judge II
3. 77B
There are only a few people that have every Compass schematic , they are former employees of Compass who have the rights to repair the Compass line. The rest of the Compass schematics might not be released for many years !!  I am not sure if any more Compass schematics will ever be posted here but PCB circuit board photos are very welcome."

Can you tell me where in the internet is the manual for the Compass Judje 2 ?

Thank you...
