Hi,
I have a "laser B2" which was manufacture by Tesoro in about '92 or so...
I wanted to find out what the 2 circuit board pots are for and if they might need a little adjustment now the machine is getting on.
Emailed Tesoro to see if they would send me a schematic.....
Reply was "we don't give out schematics for any of our machines" they also advised me of the one and only "service" centre in the u.k.
Now I really don't want to use the "service" centre as I know from past experience how expensive they are (18 dollars for a couple of plastic buttons for the battery door! ...... and that was about 4 years ago!).
So thanks "Tesoro" ....... I guess I won't be investing in any of your products in the near future.
So...... anyone got a schematic for a "B2"Huh?
 Thumbs Down

Paul,

If your machine has failed, warranty is free for the life of the detector. If you broke something, you have to pay. If you want a checkup and alignment, you have to pay. No detector company that I know of sends out schematics. Nothing they've done is unreasonable.

Exactly why do you feel it is necessary to tarnish an otherwise brilliant company's reputation like this?

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.

1: Because I have emailed them now 5 times regarding a battery door over the past 4 months and keep getting the same response "we'll get back to you"

2: The "tone" of the email to me regarding help with a schematic.

3: The "technical" centre over here is so expensive it renders it un useable.

I NEVER had a problem that "Minelab" wouldn't help me with one way or another, they were brilliant.

Hello Paul A . It is not your fault !! I think you just dealt with the wrong person that day . Maybe Tesoro's reputation has changed from what it use to be .Your Laser B2 should almost be identical to the Silver Sabre but with a few modifications for the U.K. and European Countries . You might want to get a schematic and verify if I am correct . E-mail the U.S. Tesoro office and complain about the UK facility not helping you very fairly and giving you the runaround .
Tesoro could really increase Sales if they marketed their products better . Tesoro metal detectors are only available at select dealers and the Big K [kellyco] does not sell Tesoro . If Tesoro wanted to , they could boost sales like crazy by going nation wide , like selling to BIG5 or Wal-Mart over here in U.S. They do manufacture some great Metal Detectors . Cheap $100 dollar Bounty Hunters are sold everywhere including Wal-mart and BIG5 so why can't Tesoro , unless the Big Retailers are locked in a big Contract with Bounty Hunter not to sell any other brands .

Just keep e-mailing them or if you are ever near a Tesoro facility , stop in and chit-chat  Angry

Best of Luck ..............Eugene

Hello again Paul . I just thought of something  Idea . The battery door dimensions on yours should be the same as several different umax detector models . Find out first from the U.S. facility which are compatible door sizes and maybe they can send you one . Shipping should be cheap , it should fit in a small flat envelope . Or buy a old used broken Tesoro umax  dirt cheap with a good battery cover , then you will also have a Tesoro electronic repair project to work on .

HH............Eugene

In the USA, I've never heard of problems.  MINLAB is a different story.

Not only did they turn off repairs of older machines, there are post of people that have machines in the shop for 4,6 and 8 weeks.

Try calling there service center!  If I paid a few thousand dollars for a machine, I would be most pissed.

Post  photo of your battery box.

I will find you one.

Wow,
Isn't it strange that people have different experiences with "support" centres.
I had nothing but excellent service from Minelab.
They were really helpful on the phone and even sent me a replacement battery holder at no charge!
I guess it's all down to who you get to talk to.......
