Dug this on an old old 10 acre site that has had over 500+ years of heavy traffic, from native american Apache Indians, Spanish Conquistadors, a Railroad, Stagecoach Stop, Wagon Trains & more.

So what is this? Any help is appreciated.

it looks like  a folk-art butterfly or moth probably made as a decorative item for a small house or as a gift for a child.    How large is it, and what is it made of?   (That could change the answer slightly)

The wing spread is JUST a bit wider than 2 quarters side by side, and about 1 1/2 quarters at it's tallest point NOT including antennas.

In that case, I'm still leaning towards a home-made gift---possibly a piece of jewelry (hair barrette or a brooch maybe) for either someone's daughter, wife, mother, or girlfriend----especially if it is made out of tin or something similar.

Nope sorry, It's not that. A magnet won't stick to it.

You'd never believe what it is! I couldn't believe it myself. Detecting

See if any of your friends or other members you know here can figure it out by helping you.

about the only other thing I can think of is half of a cover for something with a pouring spout (like a measuring cup has)....and the antennas would be part of the "hinge".....beyond that I'm going to have to fall back on my internet searching ability and see what I can find.

(and just for the record, when I said "tin", I wasn't talking about tin cans which are basically tinned iron or steel, but rather a tin alloy closer to pewter so it would be more similar to aluminum when it comes to flexibility and reactions to magnets)
