Hi found this from the grounds of a old chapel i know its not really really old but i dont know what it is or what its for. Has anyone got any ideas? Thanks

It looks like a finial for a wrought iron fence, but I wouldn't bet my paycheck on it.

I'm going to move this to a different board where it is more likely to attract people who might know the answer.

What happened to johnnn reply ? The subject got moved it was posted in the wrong area maby it lost while moving subject? So it is hammered into wood and line or wire/rope is threaded through the hole? is this correct? Thanks. Lee
