That would be one serious-*** pulley system for a clothesline!  I need to start putting rulers or other identifiable objects in my pics so there's a sense of scale.  Smiley

The round object in that pic is 1" in diameter.  In case I'm confused about the sturdiness of it, I did a quick google image search on clotheline pulley and didn't find anything that looked like it nor anything that looked that heavy duty.  But that doesn't mean a lot since that is usually pretty limited and was in this case as well.  But in the process, I remembered the term I was looking for earlier:  "block and tackle".  But it's an odd shape for most of them.  In the process of searching images, I saw a reference to a fence stretcher, which I'm kind of leaning towards now, especially since that site had some seriously heavy-duty fencing up for years that was just torn down about 20 years ago.

Kind of fun seeing what other people think.  Good example of how folks just plain think differently.
