?Baguio City had always been a favorite haven for treasure hunters on account of the truth to the fact that the Golden Buddha and other alleged Yamashita treasures had been found and are ceaselessly and persistently being sought, pursued and uncovered to this very day,? Farinas noted.

From this statement, it appears Farinas is admitting to uncovered treasures in Baguio City. That's what I get from "sought, pursued and uncovered to this very day"

Interesting..... Baguio City.... hmmmmm Kiss

I used to go to Baguio City for the leather and wooden goods way back when. The shops there were full of the finest wood products. I still have a ship's wheel clock I bought there 30 years ago and it still works great. My daughter has it.

All this talk about the Philippines has me wanting to travel there again.

Well if you ever decide to visit here just let me know. I am familiar with the best places to go and I am even familiar with Baguio City (the Summer Capital of the Philippines).  Wise Smiley

In the past, when I traveled, I always looked up friends so that won't change now.

Must ring my travel agent. Pardon me. Back in a few.

goldigger1950,

try going south to the city of cagayan de ORO ( google earth at 8deg 25 18north, 124deg 38 18east). the mountain communities has been mined since our recorded history in 1600's up to the present but the river that runs thru the city remain untouched. i think your md will go crazy with this river...

btw, cagayan de ORO means river of gold...

Mr Yamashita, my travel agent, told me that he'd sell me some maps from his grandfather before I go.

How much should I pay him?

My advise is a barter. Tell him if he will provide travel expenses, maps, excavation costs and detecting equipment expenses, you will deal him in at 50% of the take. How could he refuse if his maps are real? Wink

What's wrong with 50%?  Huh? Just imagine if you will. The claims of Yamashita treasure is that there are tons of gold buried in more than 170 major sites throughout the Philippines. If his maps are real and only ONE (1) metric ton is found and it's really the reported 999fine gold (24k) then at current gold prices that's an astounding value of 32,710,932 USD (32 million $)  Cheesy .... I'd take 5% and be happy as a lark!  Grin
