Mike....base on your statement..VR 300 will not work on my proposed project. I don't want to wait for 16 months. Maybe I should ask Gozzo, Homefire for any referrals for which Rods or MD that will really work for a 6 ft. to 12 ft. depth treasure hunting. Previously, I purchased a Gemini III, but it was a failure...all negative. Thanks for any comments.

Don't bother asking me about the Rods unless you want to hear the Truth.   LOL

:::chuckles:::   The typical shill spin about how a legitimate metal detector didn't find the "buried treasure" and is now searching for a fraudulent device that will.

LoL... Unbelievable

@ LCastle
I cant say i have ever found ANYTHING 6 feet down however that doesn't mean the right machine in the hands of a skilled operator wont work. My best advice i can give is
A, Forget LDL's there is no more scientific basis to prove/show they work  than a psychic.
B, If your certain of the location of what your looking for perhaps you could use a dozer or tractor with a blade and remove a couple of feet of the overburden, then use a MD.
C, Your best bet and unfortunately, most expensive option, would be GPR ( Ground Penetrating Radar ) to search for anomalies in the area in question. You may be able to get assistance from a local archaeological group with regards to that kind of equipment, however they are going to want their cut, which may just be, the opportunity to study what your looking for and catalogue it, or they may want a share of profit's.
I am truly sorry if my comments with regards to LRL's are offensive to anyone. But I will not advise someone to use or invest money in something I personally dint believe in. When i heard of LRL's I was very excited, till I researched them. I have never come across anyone or any article, that shines positive light on them unless the Author has a financial gain, in their sale. There are various Md's out there that will give you the penetration your looking for, such as minelab, I don't have one myself due to the cost. Both MD's I have are old. Due to my budget but one day I hope they may find me a nice hefty nugget, that I can cash in to get one. If you look up Minelab they will send you obligation free information packs on their range of equipment. As i imagine would all other reputable companies, such as Garrett, Whites etc. I speak solely from personal experience and research via the WWW. As there are no MD clubs in my area. My local minelab dealer who also represents Garrett. Doesn't even stock machines in his shop due to the low demand in my area. and to top it off he is a gunsmith with no interest in our hobby/pastime or for some, Full time work.
i wish you success in your endeavors as it seems your very keen to get after whatever it is you are attempting to find. I believe option C, is your best bet at a depth of 6 to 12 feet.
  all the best
Keep on
 Detecting
Gozzo

Hi Gozzo....thanks for your inspirational comments. I just started doing some treasure hunts last summer. A total of 6 holes, about 7' x 7' x 15' and was done manually with two  1 HP submersible pump to flush out the water. We were utilizing the Gemini 3 two box from Fisher for detecting the areas and location. But unfortunately...it was all black sand and some methane gas. But I will not stop doing it. I was so happy that with this forum..men with experience in treasure hunting will share their precious information to new members. Thanks again.

Be careful round methane it is both toxic and highly explosive. You probably allready know that but I just want to make sure, one spark and, it's all over, rover. makes petrol fumes seem like they are not even combustible.
Keep on

An MFD unit is going to work better than a dowsing rod.

A pulse induction metal detector with a lagre coil (one meter square or larger) will go deeper than any two box--by a long ways. Two box machines are not for treasure hunting and they are useless in mineralized ground especially if it is wet.

Sounds like you need a safety course in digging. A 7 x 7 x 15 foot hole could easily cave in. I know a guy who was standing in a four foot deep trench when one wall fell in. He was crippled for life.

BTW, why did you dig there? You said the two box didn't work.

Hi Mike...safety was our concerned before digging the holes, we installed lumber all around the hole till 15 ft. depth, the formation was  clay, mixed sand & gravel, corral rocks, fine sand then the black sand. The area was known to be a former Japanese Garrison during WWII and its privately owned. Somebody suggested the OKM detectors but , its too expensive for me now. That's why I was looking for a not to expensive MD that will really work. Also, I do positively believed that Benet down a treasure is waiting.
