Hey what are you guys up to?  You're gonna knock something up?  What?  Look what the little BH found today.  A 1936 bent merc dime, a girls ring, some clad, and a star thing-a-ma-jig.

Hey, that's a good aluminum recovery machine by the looks of those finds!

From what I've read, I think there fairly stable in the salt water once you adjust your settings and even it out. Just like RidgeRunner mentioned though, watch what your doing in the surf. It's easy to have a memory lapse & actually make a mistake and submerge the control box or to let go of the machine.

Good luck & may you recover "Blackbeard Bills" aluminum treasure chest!

Jim

Thanks Jim!

my very first machine was the old red barron Bounty hunter , big old heavy box with a stick and a coil,
but man that old thing found all kinds of good stuff. then i moved on to whites etc. then back to a BH
cause it was lighter than the rest and a lot easier to carry etc, for this old messed body of mine.   Shocked
I can't complain though this pioneer 101 has found a lot of great stuff.

Well I personally havent messed with the QD 2 So I can't really say. Did you read Oklestsee's original assement of the Bounty Hunters
and why he chose the BH Tracker IV ? Included below. hopefully that helps.

I wanted a cheap(er) bum-around-town MD that I could use and also have available for the wife to use when we both go out.  I looked at all the Bounty Hunters up to about the $300 dollar range, and you know what?  I finally decided on the cheaper $100 Tracker IV.  The reason is, in the lower price range, the frequency and coil size of all the models are the same.  They all have an 8 inch coil and a 6-7 khz frequency range.  The important thing, the Tracker has automatic ground balance adjustment, NOT FIXED.  Some of the more expensive BH's in this price range had FIXED ground balance.  Now some had more bells and whistles, but they all had the same coils, and frequency, which to me says the same depth range, only some of them have their own, built in, computerized ground-balance-on-the-fly, and the others were FIXED.  Bounty Hunter claims that the automatic ground balance can be used in the toughest conditions, even around old gold mines for nugget hunting, with no problems in highly mineralized soils.  So why buy a more expensive machine with a FIXED ground balance?

Jim Originally I started with the BH redbarron years ago then moved up to whites etc. then went back to BH cause at the time the Pioneer 101 was the lightest detector I could find after having multiple shoulder surgeries. I just can't swing the heavy machines anymore.

Sorry I know it doesn't really answer ur question but Google the Quick draw and there are video's and other reviews on it also.

Yes I saw his thoughts and gave them good thought.
He makes a VG and hard to beat argument on the tracker 4, and it makes sense to me.

No Karl, you actually did help quite a bit mate, so many thanks for what you mention, and hey the less weight does mean alot... Great

Thanks,
Jim

lol, okay Karl...You started with the Red Barron?  Gosh, I wonder what detector snoopy used then!  Detecting

Anyways, I'm sure the tracker IV must be a good aluminum Alien crash site finder, so all is well that ends well.  Grin
