Finally you have a real treasure story that is true without any bull or hype or 2nd or 3rd hand. Forrest Fenn lives in New Mexico and is 82 years old. He was an adventure his whole life. After serving in the war and being shot down twice, he came back, got married and moved to Santa Fe New Mexico.
He opened up an Art Gallery there which is 2nd in the quality of art next to the one in NY City. He became wealthy during the process. He collected ancient Indian pottery, clothing, anything old and of treasure value. He has a collection of treasure that he has looked for from ancient aztec and Inca figures, to gold coins, and anything else.
He developed cancer and The doctor told him he has about 2 months to live. Well he out lived the months that the doctor had told him and he came up with an ideal.
He wrote a book called "the thrill of the chase", which is about his life. Its a good book that once you read it, you cant put it down because he has had this interesting life. At the end of the book he wrote a poem. In the poem he gives clues, to where the treasure is buried. The only think he has said is other than from the poem or the small clues in his book is that the treasure that he buried is North of Santa Fe New Mexico. He followed it up by saying when he means North, north is all the way up to Alaska. The treasure box is a old Roman box made of Bronze, that he purchased from a Museum. The box is dated around 1100 BC. He fill the box with 20 lbs of treasure that he has collected, from old gold coin, to aztec figures, with a few diamonds and rubies and a 2 lb nugget and a bunch of smaller nuggets. He picked and choosed the treasures from his collection All in all about 2 million dollars worth. The title to his book is called "The thrill of the Chase" He said that he has had the thrill of the chase his whole life and he know what its like and he wants someone to have the same experience.
He said it is difficult to find, but anyone could find it. He said you wont find it by accident. Follow the clues, which from his poem are not easy, because he is very tricky with words, and even wrote in his book that many words he uses are not in the dictionary, and those that are, he changes the meaning to them.
He want someone to have the thrill of the chase. Its been going on about 2 years now and no one has claimed to of found it.
I was looking for someone who lives far away and would never look for it but look at the clues and help out with the interpretation of the location. For arm chair hunters this is a fun challenging game that you have to use your mind.
As one newa paper writer in New Mexico put it.. this guy is like Colombo, from the show in the 70's. You just dont know what he is saying because he leads you to think one thing but is meaning something else.
So their you have it. A real box of treasure, where there is no map, only a poem and a book with clues. And if people are thinking that this is a hoax to sell books. It has donated all of his books to one book store in Santa Fe, and all the proceeds go to find a cure for Cancer. He doesn't make a dime. He just wants people to get out and enjoy nature and have the thrill of he chase just like he as had his whole life.
So if any arm chair hunters wants to investigate and help me out, then give me a shout. I lived in New Mexico for two years, and now I am living one state over in Utah, so my search area can cover, New Mexico, Colorado, Montana, Idaho, Wyoming.....all North of Santa Fe like he said it was.
It will be interesting to hear from you
