In case you don't know it. The superstitions are govt controlled and there is no mining, treasure hunting, etc. allowed. If the rangers etc. catch you it is a big fine. I have been in there several times it is a spooky area. You'll need to take camping gear etc and make a several day trip of it.

Good Luck and keep finds to yourself. The area has constant THers and hickers looking the the Lost Dutchman and other related TH stories.

Go Up Go Down

Hi Alberdran, and first of all GOOD LUCK. I am currently involved in a similar search. I read the advise sent and it's good advise. I'm taking some of it myself.
First of all is the obvious, Research. Looks like you've done your share. Google Earth and all other means mentioned above are key. The  great technology we have in this great time is pioneer. But continue to research.
I believe we as a T hunting community find more and report less for obvious reasons. Out technology is better and laws are more strict.
Just remember. Those who Cashed away their bounty didn't want it to be found, it's never easy.
Today we do not have a sure fire point and go locating system. If we did, nothing would be left. This is a quote from an Air Force Officer that I know personally.
Thermal image photography and horseback are my preferences. Walk and walk and walk. Turn stone after stone. Vision the landscape as if you were the one burying the cash'e.
and remember, "If it's easy, it's been found".
Hope this helps. DC

If the cave you are looking for is that big, the chances are that there is a large colony of Mexican Freetail Bats (tadarida mexicana) there.  They usually go out to feed just past sundown while it is still light.  Sit on a high point in the area you suspect and watch the area with binoculars for what might appear to be smoke, and note the location as best you can.  Bat guano is pretty strong smelling also, and we have discovered several caves (and mine tunnels) by smell.  (By the way, if there are bats, they won't bother you so don't bother them).  Good luck!

Well, albedran, it's been a while. Was wondering if you had any luck with your venture. Sure hope so. Got any updates for us? How about you, DC?
