Go Up Go Down

I have to say that this afternoon I had to suddently quit my hunt because I was approached and bullied by a couple of adolescents (12-14 yrs). It is incredible how children nowadays dare to bother an adult and will not quit when kindly ask to leave. They were both part of a bunch of about 10-15 kids hanging out in the park. I opted for walking away from them and leave. Have any of you gone through something like it? In my days, I would never ever bother an adult, I was always respectful of them.  Thumbs Down

It's a sure sign you're not as young as you once were when you start complaining about how kids act now compared to how they acted when you were a kid  Grin

But yeah, I agree with you on all points although I have to admit that I have also met a whole bunch of very nice, very courteous kids (singularly and in groups).  If anything, I think that in at least some parts of the country things actually seem to be improving just a bit.   Just wish it were in more parts of the country and more of an improvement.

I haven't had any problems so far. I've had preteens come up and ask me what I'm doing, but I never felt threatened. I've had little kids come up to me with their parents and get excitedwhen I tell them I'm looking for treasure(the kids, not the adults)  Grin

I'm 51 and let me tell you I'm an educator by profession. I have been in education half of my life and have experienced all kind of children behaviors in schools. Yes, I have been approached by children before. Especially the little ones approach me out of curiosity and I have even let them use my machine and explain how it works, etc. I like to teach children. Those in the park needed to be taught discipline and respect for they came with the only intention of bothering me and showed no respect for me. I feel sorry for them and their parents because their lack of discipline will get them in a lot of trouble and their parents might have to share the consequences of their poor social judgment. If they dare to bully on an adult, they probably bully other children their age.

I know. I have experienced the same with kids previously. To tell you the truth, I may feel more cautious of adults approahing me than kids for obvious reasons.

I agree and preferably accompanied by someone else.

LOL!

As calm as you can drink some water out of your bottle.

Pop the Alka Seltzer from your shirt pocket into your gob.

Give it a couple of chews!

When the Froth starts spewing out, Walk toward them with a Limp.

You will find out who is the boss then!

You're not the first, mate. Young teen boys showing off to each other are the worst.

I'm glad to learn that I'm going through the very same experiences as everyone else. This afternoon I tried another park and a lot of teenagers gathered to play volleyball, taking advantage of the good weather this week. None of them even get close to me. It was as though I was invisible. But they were all young adults, not young teenagers.  Great

Mate, the light saving time period is on us and so I have very few hours to detect after work. So things are slowing down a bit for me and for others for sure.  Undecided
