OK..thats all well and good..but you left out the important stuff!! how does the expert find all that ALUMINUN??whats your setting on the gold bug????please tell..gimp55

Well, its complicated and very technical.  You have to use the right detector, and know how to tweek your settings.  That stuff is VERY hard to find.  Maybe I'll start a new thread and walk people thru the procedure a little at a time...cover all the bases, and then just MAYBE they will qualify to become an ALUMINUM RECOVERY TECHNICIAN.

I had to tweek the GoldBug in a very unusual manner, and its also in the way you swing.  I'd rather not tell the specifics about the GoldBug because I'm thinking about writing a book....

I'm 3/4 done with the rebuild.  I may take time off from my aluminum recovery to finish the project and post some pics by Sunday.  Won't be surprised if the men in black confiscate the whole thing so I've moved it to an undisclosed location.  Don't bogart that jug, my friend.

Oh, uhhh, since this is supposed to be a thread about the GoldBug SE, I thought I would share about its target ID.  I suppose it may be similar to other Fisher products but I don't know that for sure.  The GB has a 0-100 numeric display, which in discriminate mode is your largest display in the middle of the screen.

0 - 40 is interpreted as junk or relics (iron and steel products).
40 - 79 can be a plethora of stuff including nickels and our most prized aluminum.
80 - 99 is all the good silver and coins

I tested a few 10k and 14k gold rings.  They came in at the 40 -79 range.

So if you want to just coin shoot, you can set the controls to only detect objects in the 80 + range.  Or you can leave the controls open like I do, and get the numeric values off of every target.
