When anyone does find them hoards or any thing that contains more than 10% precious metal or an item is more than 300yrs old it has to go to the portable antiques scheem to be valued that can take over a year, then the reward is split between the land owner and the finder as agreed by the two parties before it was found, I've got contract forms that i get signed by myself and the land owner so there's no grey areas,

But theres an old law from that Queen Elizibeth the 1st bought out that any metal containing more than 10% belongs to the crown . Because her and her father Henry viii spent all the wealth and needed to raise cash and that 500 yr law still stands today , but the finding of ancient sites and antiques has gone up by 95% since detectors and detectists started working with this scheem so the heritage is being saved and thats a good thing,
