Yes you never know what that could lead too. You may just be in a good position to be able to investigate in greater depth especially if you have a place to stay for a few days.

All the best

GREAT story Hardluck - sorry I am late to the party but what a great story, really gets the imagination going!  Shades of King Solomon's Mines, Ophir, Tarshish, Parvaim, or the fabled Kenti Amenti of the ancient Egyptians!  Thank you for sharing this, and to Archipurg for the book link and to Sue for the great article too!

Hello Oroblanco

Glad you liked the story. Its my pleasure indeed.

I have a soft spot for these intrepid explorers of the 1930's. So full of get up and go back then. A valuable lesson to some of the young couch potatoes of today too consumed playing computer games an not stepping out of their confort zone for a real adventure. But perhaps I an just an old dinosaur that believed in exploring the world and discovering what an amazing place it really is.

Hi Hardluck

In the day's when I did just as you said I went for the real adventure I would pack my backpack and off I went but I always seemed to get the timing wrong and ended up with my toes frozen to the bone  Grin  but in them days I never worried about finding food or water even shelter never crossed my mind but today things are different I'm not so hardy any more and I've come to love my comfort Hell I've been doing it for more than 30 years so now if I go I want to make sure that I have all that I need and get my timing right for once  Grin

All the best

Hello Xavier

I know what you mean. I too confess I am begining like the creature comforts these days. Slept many a time on the ground. up in trees. Got every ache and pain imaginable to remind me of those days.:Smiley

Back then the body could take it. Wink

Grin Grin Grin Funny thing is that when I cant sleep I take the blanket throw it to the ground then get on top of it and I sleep like a log till the next day NO back aches NO night mares AND I feels as if I had a massage all night long. By the way I slept that way for more than 8 years but man was I happy to see a real bed when I found one LOL

Hello xavier

Wow must be bred tough down your way. Shocked

I bet your the type that can go to sleep like turning off a light switch. Cheesy

I'm jealous of people like that because I am a human compass I toss and turn half awake all night and by the time I get to sleep it is time to get up. Embarrassed

Grin Grin Grin Damn I hate it when that happens to me but most nights I just lay down and think about my project or things that were discussed on thunting and the next thing the alarm goes off, Hate the darned thing it all-way's seems to buzz at the wrong time LOL Like just when you're about to kiss the girl of your dreams and it is LOL or when you're going to drive that fast car that you saw on TV but the worst is when you're about to find the solution to a problem that's been nagging you for a long time then you wake up and it's you weekend off and you did not need to get up, so you go back to sleep hopping that the dream will come back but it never does. By the way wooden flours are the best to sleep on if you are having back problems and tonight I think that I'm going to sleep on the carpet as my back is giving me hell  Cry .

All the best to you
