That's what I thought too Seldom, but I didn't have much time to check it out.

Still I think of all the early accounts of stone coffins. copper plates with strange writing, the Kensington stones, the roman coin finds and the celtic barrow in new england. The list goes on and on. Could it be he found something and made it more or was it just a scam to start?  That is a lot of stuff to make up front. It's confusing.

The bahgdad battery is a favorite of mine. Also the little plane. And while I agree a toy is a toy it's not hard to imagine someone accidently discovering a wheel and putting it on a toy. What I can't imagine is someone creating an airplane with cockpit and a vertical stabilizer. Aside from fish nothing in nature has vertical stabilizers since the dinos....

fun stuff to think on isn't it?

Why am I not surprised that the KGC rears its head in this tale, too?  (even if only in passing).

Wouldn't be the first time artifact have been faked to add creditability to a site.

I agree it looks very much like it was all a ruse. Has anyone had any luck tracing Burrows military career or did that article just shoot the topic down?

The KGC are everywhere and had a hand in everything, it's the american version of the spanish inquisition... I almost stopped reading at that point but in hindsight it seems to fit the pattern of the group involved. No claim to wild.

Anyone have a way to check on the Native American legend mentioned? What was your take on that Seldom? I got the feeling it was just a fabrication but I hate to write it all off on one point of view.

On the little bird/whatever, we will probably never know. I respect your opinion Seldom and you could be right, but I will agree to disagree Smiley

I lean towards Seldom's camp on this one, although, I can and will easily concede the possibility of both an occasional balloon and/or glider (with or without vertical stabilizers).... but nothing powered and certainly no Mayan astronauts---at least not based on the current level of evidence.

I only look for answers to questions that interest me, and a lot of things interest me. Smiley

Meanwhile back at the cave...

Whatever the reality of the cave system and its contents real or false, I can't seem to locate anything positive that doesn't involve blind trust. Since it doesn't look like anyone is too interested in the cave I'm guessing we are at a standstill until new evidence comes to light. I don't think I'll hold my breath. Smiley

Jones, one of the most interesting (and potentially telling) points in that last link is that Barry Fells pronounced the artifacts to be fakes especially given the fact that Fells made a name for himself trying to proof  diffusionist theories of all sorts (much of it based on "signs" of the same quality that we regularly see presented by our Filipino friends).    There is a lot of it I would like to believe, but so far the evidence presented has not quite met the point where it convinces me (some of it, like vikings in Minnesota is definitely within the realm of possibility but still unproven).

Agreed BA, that was one of the things I took away was all but the extremist diffusionists seemed to be backing away slowly.

The biggest problem with all the diffusionist evidence (as always) seems to be sorting for real artifacts from among the ones designed to help prove someones point. As science marches forward perhaps some new tests can help sort fact from fiction, provided anyone is willing to try.

Back in the days when I was studying anthropology my biggest argument was the way artifacts were interpreted. Main stream archeologist seem to class everything into tools or utensils, drawings craving on rocks etc become religious symbols. I say BS, man has been the same for 1000's of years we get bored which leads to doodling or just chipping on rocks or molding a piece of clay.

Here is a story I used back in the 80's to irradiate my teachers.

A young man is eating peaches and scratching his name on a rock in ends up saying Billy (hearts) Sally he drops the peach pits and walks away. A 1000 years later an archeologist finds the markings digs up the pits study's the site for 5 years then reports that Sally was the God of the peach and the site was a temple to her.  The other side jumps in with the site was not about Sally but about the peaches that were a gift from the Gods brought to earth on a fiery spaceship.
But both sides were wrong Bill just loved Sally and liked peaches.

OK back to the cave. I ordered several books in hopes they will help by I have my doubts. I do love the players in this story so will continue to research foe awhile. Right now I am still saying hoax but as stated earlier maybe not by Burrows he may have just been a pawn.
