Go Up Go Down

Hi All,
For what its' worth, being an uneducated Englishman and one who has studied a number of so-called treasure charts and maps over time!!

If the symbol or etching on the rock/boulder is authentic, then it was drawn there for a reason.
It might have been to show the way to a place or thing!!

My ignorant interpretation of the sign which is visible to me;

Portrays a cross, which could signify the Church or a compass!!
Either way it is obviously pointing the route to somewhere or something.

I think it shows a compass, the south of which has the rock for its position, the east west axis is how the boulder is orientated.
The pointer on the cross is therefore pointing east-south east, as for the three lines , they could indicate the length of distance or the time of distance or both.
I could of course be completely mistaken! But who knows??

Best wishes Crowsnest.

crowsnest1:
Hello!,
Glad to hear from you !
ARE "u'll",
A! For Sure, "Englishman" ?

"U'll" being a part of the "lingo" down "har" !
As, I'm a'sett'n down har, on, Well! Pretty darn close (60 miles (roughly! (100 km)) The Texas Gulf Coast, That's The Deep South, "U'll" )   Grin
"As you may Know"
If'n u'll has, books on Spanish Treasure Symbols and such,
You know,
That Maps & Trail markers, were required, by The King's Law, to use standard symbols ...
As much as was possible and done back then !
Using STANDARD SYMBOLS, this much is Known :
1. The "Cross" DOES, as you mention, represent, The Church's involvement, as the "Owner" of Huh?? ( cache, mine, etc)
Remembering, that most of the early mine/mining was done by The Jesuit Sect of Cath. Priests, up to around 1680, anyway !
At which time, the General Indian "Revolt", took place !
Because of the CRUEL & Killing Mining Practices,
that they used ..Thruout the Entire New World !
2..2. The upside down "U" or "Arch",
That, the the Cross is sitting on, means, that what ever the map is about, is buried in a "Tunnel, Cave or Mine" !
3..The "Arrow" Normally points out a/the direction !
"NORMALLY" !   :Smiley
But,
It was and IS! known,
Sometimes, the "Arrow"s direction, and other symbols, were oriented 180* out of being TRUE!,
In Other words....
The direction can be & in this case, was! JUST OPPOSITE of the actual direction .
IE: this arrow is pointing, as the map is read, (standing at the bottom of the map),
The "Arrow" points to the "left" or in this case, it is pointing, back to the West !
BUT!
If you were to follow/go the Arrow's Direction, going West, you would be traveling, back down the actual trail, BACK down the canyon, to where there is a Spanish mining settlement! (still There)
The Present Settlement, is located, on the eastside/bank of, The Rio Grande River, at the mouth of the canyon...
Some, 6 miles west of where this map is found
In other words,
Following the Arrow's direction, you'd be headed  back towards 180* out of true,
AND!
Back, From where, they would HAD to have come from (being, The Settlement)
Whew!
I need to stop here, for A! Coffee Break!      Grin
OR! In your case,    Wink  a Tea Break ?
To Sum Up:
We know: (using Standard Symbols)
That what ever is buried, is the Property of The Church.. (Cross)
And! That it is buried in (in this case, large, (72 lb) "Gold Bars", to be explained) in a mine tunnel !
(indicated by, Upside down "U")

Hi Capt.
Thank you for your enlightening post, I do not have your experience of the treasure symbols, neither am I able to see, the other signs with which the one you portray is linked.
However, from my understanding of some treasure signs, the arrow which shows direction is normally only associated with a 180degree reverse, when there is another smaller arrow pointing in the opposite direction, within the flights, feathers or tail.
As this does not appear to be the case, then I am inclined to believe that the direction arrow is pointing in the true direction.
Furthermore, the arrow point is aimed at the three lines, these could be, three Varas or Caves!!
you are no doubt correct when you say the reverse direction points to a mine and settlement, although I know that the Spanish would often deposit the mined and smelted gold in a store house, cave or vault away from the actual workings.
Have you scouted in the appaerent true direction of the arrow?? Could there be three caves in that vicinity.
Do the Turtle enscriptions show the direction?/ are they facing the same way as the arrow??

By the way, yes! I am a True Englishman, from the City of Plymouth, in the county of Devon.
Home port and departure point for the Pilgrim fathers in 1625.

Best wishes crowsnest.

Ps. please do not think this is a Spanish inquisition!, I am just curious.!

Hi Dr,
As with most signs, symbols, marks and un-authenticated, maps and charts, we in this day and age can only use our best guess as to what they mean.
We do not know if the aforesaid are genuine or hoax!, neither do we know......... if they are real, what the true meaning of them are!?.

I for one can only guess, and give an opinion based on past knowledge, which is based on rumour, myth, legend, fact and fiction, hardly the base for sound analytical conclusions.
Yet! like so many before me, I still dream of finding the elusive clue or sign which leads to the mother lode!.

Strangely enough, after so many years of study, I wonder if the thrill of the chase is as important as the actual finding  of what we search for.!!!!!!?

Best wishes, Crowsnest.

very nice post cn~thanks Smiley

the thrill is definetly in the find! i completely agree with your post moreso than my own. as primative as those men may have been back then,i feel the were intelligent enough to know not to be stupid and post the way to their treasure for anyone to read or even have the slightest poss. to crack a code,[for lack of a better word!]

who knows what was originally scratched in the rock~then added to~or embellished on ect..

happy hunting! Smiley

I agree!!!! Why is it every single marking on a stone has to be a treasure sign? Who knows the real intent of the "artist"

Go Up Go Down

Your journey starts here.
Walk 4 days to the east-southeast.
Look for a trinity marker.
There will be a triangle locator.
It leads to a covered deposit.

(If there are water signs (mirror) than you would
go north-northwest instead.)
