They have a great pinpointer also for $15. Been using one for about 8 months now. Probably made by the same co. that made the old whites, looks just like it.

Treasurehunter . Always remember that a pin-pointer is just as good as the detector it is hooked up to . The regular pinpointers are just made to detect nails or wires in a wall . It is better to make your own pin-pointer coil ( rod ) and hook it up to a good detector .  Cornelius

H.F. pinpointer works quite well, has a max depth of 1 1/4- 1 1/2 inches. I had 4 that I tested at one time for a comparison, found one that maxed at 3/4", returned it to HF. So if you buy one check it out.

I have an HF pinpointer as well. I bought 2 at the time. i used one for bout a month and a half and it started messing up. I brought it back to HF and they gave me store credit. I wanted to swap it our for another but they didn't have anymore in the store so I took store credit so if they get them in again I know for a fact that I have the money for it. I've been using the 2nd one for over a year now and havent had a problem. The only problem I have is havint to always check and see if any have come in, which reminds me, guess where I'm calling tonite...

A good pinpointer will go as deep as a good coil . Especially when you have a PI detector the pinpointer will go real deep . If you are after nuggets you hate to miss the ones that are at a depth of 1 1/2  or 2 inches deep . Also when you want to inspect a narrow opening in the rocks you should be able to drop the pinpointer in this hole and messure what is in it . On the sides as well as on the bootom .    Cornelius

Thanks Sqwaby, I've been waiting for someone to test out the H.F. Pinpointer. I wanted to make sure it had a reasonable depth of field before I sent off for one, being as I live in the UK its more difficult to return if I'm not happy with it.

best regards Mike.

Mike alot of people will tell you there are better ones out there but it does what I need at a super price. I don't use it very often since I can X the target with My Vaquero and hit dead center about 95% of the time. Keep and eye on the plastic tip, mine came loose and I glued it back with a poly sealant which also waterproofed it. A couple other have mentioned the same problem.

Thanks Sqwaby, you're the first person to say how deep it will detect in the ground, as I've mentioned somewhere before, I use a Sherlock probe myself but it only has a depth of field of about 3/4 inch which is pretty useless really and I like the price of the HF probe.
My Ace 250 is good at pinpointing, but you always get the odd one where its still in the side of the hole and the detector's too big for the hole.

All the best Mike.
