Metal Detector Carrying Bag , What is everyone's opionion on these,
Are the so called padded carrying bags worth the money
or
are you better off with a plastic hard case that you make your self etc.
Just Curious as to what everyone is using and why.

Now that I got all this extra time on my hands , I want to do a lot more MD'ing
and want to keep MD from getting messed up.
and have room for the accesories , folding shovel, hand held digger etc.

Thanks
Karl

Below examples of soft and hard cases.

Depends upon how rough you are on your equipment  Wink .   For normal use and for storage, I find the padded rifle type bags work fine for me. (of course, when I pack my truck, I pack accordingly).   If I flew a lot, the hard case might make sense---except you get charged by the bag---so I pack the detector in the  bottom section of a split rolling duffel (all of the advantages of a hardsided case, but with out having to use an extra case).

I agree, it depends entirely on how rough you are on your equipment.  I personally prefer the padded bags over the hard cases.  They pack better for me and are lighter.  I think it is 6 of one and a half dozen of the other.  Depends on your personal preference.

I got a free carrying case with my $500 detector.  Its a piece of nylon with a zipper!  No way I'm using that for my investment.  I'm  looking for other options.

How long is the one you got?  I'd like to have one that will hold my collapsed MD without breaking it down.  I'm thinking about the padded gun case.  I use a school back pack to carry everything else.  Then I want to try a light fishing vest to hang my stuff off of in the field cause all that gear around my waist is going to pull on my pants in a downward way!  I hate to keep pulling up my britches all the time.

Mine is the bounty hunter bag u see at the beginning of this thread, wife got it for me , i just break down the bh pole in the middle

fold it in half and it fits fine, the small one i just loosen the fitting and slide it together and they both fit in the bag just fine along

with the pinpointer and batteries & folding shovel etc.  it's easy to carry and fits in the suv and camper just fine.

? Rugged, double-stitched nylon construction for durability ,? Custom Tailored to accommodate any Bounty Hunter? metal detector
? Handy outside zip-pocket to securely store batteries or small accessories ,?Inside zip-pocket,length 28", height 8 1/2" and depth 8".

this site has several different ones to choose from.

And I talked with a friend who uses a fishing / hunting vest for MD'ing and loves it ,

So I was thinking of doing the same thing, his has a wide variety of pockets on the front and two big pockets,

in the back that are easy to reach, and has room for his digger and zip lock bags etc. and a pocket for a water bottle etc.
