Wow.  If you're diggin up nails you really ARE digging everything.

I wonder, if the general idea is to dig all, why are we buying expensive detectors instead of using an "all metal one"? all those high and low tones are just for fun? Cry

I for one am not a purist "dig it all" yet.  I will notch out the nails and stuff on the lowest end of the iron scale in a tot lot.  I'm there for the aluminum.   Cheesy       You guys will never take me serious again.

If a pull tab tones like a gold ring, a coke can sounds like silver, what choice do we have?  Like I said, I will notch out the low end iron cause I ain't after relics where I hunt.

In my digger's backpack I carry a nail, a pull tab, a 14K ring, a penny, a nickle, a dime, and a quarter, and a piece of wire, just so I can calibrate my no-frills Bounty Hunter the way I want it.  I set it in tone mode and away I go.  If I notch out nails, it will still "grunt" on a hotwheels.

:-\I was under the impression that the better metal detectors could pick out a coin in a bucket of nails, is that right or wrong?
