Hey Pat - Why do u think I am here , so far i have learned a lot, even how to build a rocket ship and salvage aluminum Grin and build a box to house my MD in and learned all kinds tricks and tools people are using while
Metal Detecting, Thats how I learned about the vest and the magnet and other things. I still want to try the thing GD does with dipping his MD coil to protect it also.

Forget what the ID says = DIGIT =, I havn't seen an Id that can tell the difference between a steel fencepost and a musket, or the difference between a 177 pellet and a gold nugget, a gold ring and some kinds of pulltabs, besides that , what else you gonna do?  why you out there? if you knew what it was and where it was, why use a detector??
At least that is what I do, No notches, and I don't pay much attention to anything else, a solid Beep and I'm diggin Detecting{alt}

Your a smart Man Sir!

I seldom hunt parks but love the folks that do with TID Numbers drilled in there heads.

I supose if your in a race of some sort it would help on coins.

The only way to find the gold is to DIG!

 Shocked

Hope all you guys and gals out there that are wondering which is the best detector are reading these posts.  Bugar and homefire just let the cat out of the bag.

Now I'm gonna defend my lazyman position by saying this:  there ain't nothin that says I can't go out to a tot lot in full discrimination/coin only mode for some instant gratification.  Then go back and swing for the  pull tabs and alumi-shreds spending all day on my knees for a few nickles and a small gold ring, and then cover it yet again and clean out all the nails and iron in the hopes I might pick up a piece of gold or an old toy.  But yer talkin about an all day thing so I'd break it up into a couple of days.  If I dig everything on every swing I get tired and run out of time and momentum.  I only get a couple hours at a time.  And I'm gonna get me a magnet!

 [detecting]hello, I don't have a detector(want one)but why take a chance on missing something. its like this : you have to kiss a lot of frogs to find the princess. you can't miss digging up something special because of trash. tell yourself that you are beautifying the planet as you look for the pot of gold!!! Waveing

I read your inter and I'm no pro and pretty new to the this site but let me tell you about today 2-15... trying out my buddys X3 digging up lots of torn off pull tabs  not knowing his detector well...getting ready to quit  for the day....theres that last pull tab signal. dig or not? I did, and it was a large silver band ring.   One never really knows till they dig it!!

  on a 3 hour hunt last week found 30 + pull tabs two crushed pop cans and $.38 , not great wages but still fun.The thrill of the hunt keeps us going until we hit the good stuff.
