Well you are correct there are two search coils even though that it's not mentioned in the article it's in the parts and accessories. Now it makes sense how they can have the best of both worlds. A very good idea actually but tooooo expensive for me I fear.

Xavier : I think the detector industry has gone too far with prices. I don't know what they pay their reps but enough is enough. When I started in 1970 I never thought there would be a 1000$ detector now it's 2000$ and higher. just a mess. and the depth is about 2-3 inches better than in 1970, but compare cost, like you said way too high, especially when you folks can make one for about 200$ or less.

What are we talking now? If you use the PI you put one coil on it and if you use the VLF you must swap the coil? Umm that could be a pain in the  Laughed my ass off but it would make sense to me  Great But I am still wondering how they get the depth out of it  Idea also why other detectors are not getting these depths  Idea at least I do not think so  No no!

I build my PI detector for about R600 that would be about $75.00. With the 280mm coil I can find a fragment of a rusted nail at 150mm no problem in fact I cant really use it here as the soil is high in minerals and I pick up the iron in the soil (Bummer) I have ordered a VLF kit from silverdog the TGSL it cost me with postage R421 or $52 the shaft and the coil will cost me another $5 so it's like you said they have gone a bit wild with their prices.

I hate to say it but the othet countries are getting good depth out of their detectors unlike the usa. With all the hoopla with ML. their detectors do not seem any deeper than their old ones, not talking their pulses just their vlf's. The Dues and the Deepers and Blisstool are all killers and their just basic detectors. Our (USA) detectors have gone the way of the ID and depth reading junkies which they don't go any deeper than the older models. I'm not one for an Id or depth guage on my detector.just a waste of money for me.Some say we (USA) cannot go any deeper due to power restrictions  from federal govt. But how are the others across the pond doing it with the same box of tools?Huh?  The Minelabs are the deepest pulses for gold but their sucking all the money up from high gold prices. Given gold to be just 50 bucks an ounce what would they do about their prices then???  The only acomplishment in pulses would seem to come from Whites (eric foster) where they have good disc on them even up to screw caps !!!!!  Really liked my TDI but was a hand full of weight to use.  What country you in Xavier Huh?  Can't keep you all figgured out as to what countties etc.  thanks  shortribs  Usa

Hi shortribs

I live in South Africa if you want know in what country the member resides just place your mouse pointer on the flag under the avatar. I believe that there are restrictions as far as power is concerned but that's what they do in F1 racing and the guys still keep going faster all the time. I actually think that it's a good thing as this forces the technology forward making the machine lighter and better. I'm not much of a fan for ID or depth of the object (I still need to see one that works) and yes it's a waste of money to me too but folks want gadgets so the industry give it to them all I want is an audio that will change with different metals and a battery indicator.

Yep, Now days everyone wants Instant Gratitude.

No One want to use the last point of Demodulation  the Brain.

As a Company you really can't blame them for making what the folks are looking for but it sure would be cool if they produce a Pure Machine for Us that Can.

They always leave something off the Good machines.

The Little Can Do Compadre the don't have a Manual GB.  It's Pre Set for Most of some Places.

The ACE25o has a TID but they forgot the Volume control.

I think that I'll be quite happy when my TGSL kit arrives and making it work the way that I want it to.
