Yep, when I have the funds I'm ordering one for sure.

I may mess with the Freq a bit to bump it up to just over 25Khz.

I have a Ace 250 and a Tesoro Silver Sabre II detectors.... Funny though the Tesoro detected under a barb wire fence which the Ace 250 battled with.... I found my stirrup under a piece of rusty tin under that same fence.... The Ace 250 would not work as well as that, with all it's bells and whistles, at least not easily  No no! that Tesoro works wonders, but seems to be short of about 1 1/2 cm's compared to the Ace 250  Wise The Ace 250 is a very nice machine, but the Tesoro seems to also be great even on it's single tone no meter  Funny Funny

I believe the computor has helped and hendered our newer generation as my generation had to  use what was available in detectors and we did good, now with bells and whistles the younger kids want everything to go with everything.  jmho.  shortribs

GD Mayl disagree with me but Freq does play with Size of Gold.

I'm after sub Grain size gold.

As they come they run at 14.6khz.   Thats good.

I can push it a bit more.

This is what I'm on about why do I need a fancy display that I will never look at except to see what my battery voltage is. All that I need is a tone that will change for the different metals and like you said that machine is a good machine it dose not ave the depth but it works well in our conditions.

If it were not for the computers we would not be here having this discussion me being in SA and you in the USA or we could but it would have taken for ever by mail so lets all be happy about the computer. Also when I build a PI detector I now use a PIC (programmable interface controller to run all my timing and that allows me to change it at almost any time and without even having to open up the machine.

Yes but 25Kh? are you not worried about having ground bounce?

Just another channel to shift.   Left , Right Sideways.

As long as you can adjust it you can make it.

Subtracting the ground from the Target you can do the thing. Sample the Ground all the time and then compare it to the a target.

Any thing above the Ground signal must be a Target, Right?

Sample at one point and the the other Use the Difference.

The TGSL has a Ground Bal Circuit.

You're incorrect but let's suppose for a moment you are not. The lower the frequency, the harder it is to find small items. Higher frequency is required for finding very small stuff. Do a little research on the metal detectors they use in the food industry to find contaminants and you'll see what I mean.

Metallic gold does not respond differently to different frequencies. It's the second most conductive metal on earth and is used everywhere as a plating to eliminate any distortion due to frequency. I have no idea why this rumor about frequency making a difference to metal type detection originates. I will say this. Frequency makes a difference in depth penetration in situations where there is metallic opposition to soil transparency. That's a fancy way of saying that iron oxide soil blocks some frequencies. So does nitrate and nitrite types of fertilizer. Use 5khz in iron laden soil land you are blocked beyond half an inch. Use 300khz in the same soil and it's like looking through glass.

Frequency DOES affect performance but not for specific metals. And even if it did affect size, the higher frequency would give you a more definitive response to tiny objects.

Well that is great but what about bounce? could it be possible to have an effective 300Khz machine? Why do a lot of manufacturers use in the rejoin of 5Khz?  I was taught that the lower frequencies had better ground penetration than the higher frequencies. Now I must admit that I'm a bit confused.
