cuirava  :Smiley that coin is in terrible condition and hasnt been cleaned all you can see is the date? Ill clean it and show the results. CheetahCats the psu that im using for my power source is what i had been advised to use from several different people i have spoken to. What do you use as i couldnt afford to buy a genuine electrolysys kit and used what i could find lying around. Cheers. Lee

Cleaned the coin, the metal itself is badly pitted so the results not as good as previous coins i have done. But i think it's a lot better. Heres the pictures after cleaning using electrolysys. What do you guys think of the results?  HH.  Lee   Detecting

Awesome! Nice job.  Perhaps you could put it in your shed or on your covered porch for a few years so that the weather can grow back its patina? Smiley

Just kidding...

Now perhaps, if it was a William & Mary, George II, or George III halfpenny...

You can see from the old pictures what coins were cleaned using this method. They are worthless. patina or not. See over here a coin thats 2-300 years old doesnt mean its worth lots of money unless its rare or in good condition. Im no fool and wouldnt clean a coin this way if it was worth a few buks. Go dig yourself a few pull tabs or bottles or maby a 19th centry indian head but remember dont use electrolosys on any valueable coins  Wink   Lee

Lee, there are some people who just don't get it. A coin hidden in the middle of corrosion or a patina is absolutely worthless. Clean it off and you might just have a treasure. Your methods are very much what the experts would use to clean a coin. Keep on with what you're doing.
