Welcome to the forum.

What is your building skills?

Do you have electronics back ground?

There are tons of schematics out there.

thanks
I can easy build models which consist of resistors, transistors ... but I'm interested in all that you can offer for the detection in the plant over 20 cm

Hello every one

I have a question that one of you might like to answer for me. I did some research on the net about VLF and the design of coils and came up with a lot of info .I then decided to build my own VLF detector and with a lot of hard ship I finally had one that worked and I may even say that I thought that it works quite well till I decided to replace the coil with a new one that I had wound more accurately here is the thing when I placed this new coil I would detect metal if there was a signal out but with no signal out nothing and my old coil did exactly the opposite no signal out metal by the coil and an audio signal out  now I replaced my old coil and I still have the same problem the dam thing works backwards when I place a metallic object in front of the coil it goes quite and not loud WHY ? Can there be some kind of inverting happening?

Thanks Guy's

I'll hazard a guess that you might have your TX and RX coil wires crossed or out of phase.

Yep!   Reverse the Rx coil or the Tx coil wires one at a time. Wise

Thanks for the reply but I did that and still the same thing...and it can't be on the receiver coil it could only be at the transmitter side by the bucking coil .Is it possible that the Op-Amp is playing up?? It?s a LM358 I can?t really see what else it could be other than the coils like you suggested or the amp.
Could you also tell me what is a good detection distance of a 3gr 18ct ring as the one that I build could detect at 180 mm in air but I don?t know if that?s good or not?

Hi Xavier,
First of all, have you unsoldered any of the wiring, which may have dry joints or be incorrect.
Check Voltages around the circuit.
If you?ve built it yourself, do you know the transmit frequency of the old coil when you built it. Compare this to your old coil as it is now.
Also did you check the frequency of the secondary side when building it, by connecting it up to the transmit side if so check this out.
Once you know the ?transmit? side is working, check through the various ?receive? stages to find the fault.

If it was working ok before and suddenly stops it?s usually something really simple.
I hope you find the fault quickly.

All the best Mike.
