the Norse/Vikings beat Christopher Columbus-

Little doubt the Vikings and many other seafaring folks visited the new world long before Columbus came along. To many Indian legends about people coming from the sea in great boats sometimes to war sometimes to trade.

A few pale and red headed tribes of Indians in the Northeast as well. Not to mention 2000 yr old roman coins that have been found in the middle of America IE the Arkansas river basin. Stir that in.

Well that might mix things up unless it was lost since the introduction of europeans??.

I have found literature  of the time of KGC LODGES though  they called them by another name  in Southern Indiana and some things attributed to the copperheads     more likely blamed on them in most cases . i will look that stuff up again  i printed it off so i know its out there. whats fact and whats not  i will leave to the researcher/s .

Copperheads was pretty much a generic term for any Northerner who opposed the Civil War.  Copperheads included genuine pacifists who opposed all violence, but more frequently the term was applied to those who either thought the Southern states should be allowed to peacefully leave the Union (whether they agreed with the politics/economics of the South or not) and those who actively supported the Southern cause either through speech or action (or both).   Since there was a rather long draw up to the Civil War (roughly 40 or 50 years), there were a whole lot of folks who belonged to a whole lot of different independent groups that could be described as Copperheads.  That doesn't mean that they were all (or even anywhere close to a majority of them) either KGC Lodges (Castles) or predecessors to the KGC.  (People should also keep in mind that New York, one of the "hotbeds" of southern sympathizer, didn't end slavery until 1827.  The last slaves in New Jersey, another 'Union' state still had folks legally held as slaves until the ratification of the 13th amendment in 1865, so a lot of the earlier sympathies were in reaction to seeing their own social structure and way of life changing rather than direct sympathy for the Southern cause).
