I'm an archaeologist and worked in most of the eastern United States. I primarily use metal detectors on historic arch sites (historic is defined as written history time period). My "treasures" are artifacts. I'm also interested in Meteorites.

Welcome from New Mexico. Your going to find a pile of cool info in this site.

We have pretty much from A to Z on treasure hunting and ways to get there.

We have More info then some Universities pertaining to some subjects.

If you have any influence, can you please explain to your co workers that I am older then the Treasures protected by the 1906 Antiquities Act?

I know a man that was issued a ticket for being in possession of Square nails made in 1950!

Are they going to include say Pennies made of copper?

Please Don't take this as a Attack for it's NOT.

Just a observation as a metal detector dude and Prospector.

LOL! There's only one alternative to getting older...dieing young. Like you, so far so good. I've been in possesion of tons of cut nails. Though that hasn't been a problem, I have been threatened with guns and almost arrested for trespassing a few times. I only wish there was a detector for lithics. Most of our projects are prehistoric and Native Americans were still in the stone age with a few exceptions in Michigan.

I know what you mean. I'm doing cold war era projects on military bases(yes, the cold war period is now historic), and I remember experiencing many of the things I'm now investigating. A few years ago I documented the U S missile developement and Dr Werner Von Braun. Sooooo, anyone born before 1961 qualifies as an artifact.
