Hello everyone in metal detecting & treasure hunting land : Smiley
My name is Aidan Morgan and I've been swinging a metal dectector for 30+ years , sometimes not as often as I would like to though. My main treasure hunting is for old telegraph, telephone and power insulators. I live in southern British Columbia and hunt mainly the Collins Overland Telegraph Line (1866 ). This line was an attempt to connect North America  to Europe via Alaska and Russia after the first trans-atlantic cable failed. I try to specalize in only Canadian insulators because there are too many kinds to try and collect all kinds. But there are some old ones from the eastern US states that I would like aquire also. Wink  So If anyone has any that they would like to part with send me a message with a picture or a description and I'll answer your message.      Thanks ,   Seasons Greatings

Welcome to the forum. Grin  I had once a neighbor who collected those insulators also. I don't know where she found them but they came in all different sizes and colors. I am so used to the small ones- I simply had no idea they made them that big. They weren't all glass either. Some appeared to be made other other materials like porcelain and these were 12" to 18" high or bigger.

Steve

Hi Guy's
Thanks for the welcome . Grin  Yes , they do come in a wide variety of sizes and colours. The main composition is glass or porcelain but they are made of a few other materials as well. The value also varies from a dollar to many thousands of dollars for certain ones. Shocked   Like anything else rariety counts. :Smiley

     Cheers
     Aidan

I have a few of those but I'm not sure were they are. I guess I had better look them up.
