Hi, I am new to this board, and have never really participated in a Metal Detecting group, I was hoping to get some info and input on some of the new machines out in the market. I own a D-Tex Search King SK for many years, and was hoping to get 1 or 2 more new machines to continue this hobby. I have been searching the net for answers, but as usual only getting some answers from Companies. I was presently looking at the Garrett Ace 250 or 350, and the Bounty Hunter Platinum, any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hey Snowcruiser57, welcome to THunting.com.

     If you go over to our Beginners board (even though you're not one) you'll find several posts that cover the important things to consider when looking for a new metal detector.

    By the way, I'd include Tesoros and the Fisher F4 or F5 in your list.   And if the budget can handle it, the Garrett AT Pro.

Thank-you for the welcome, much appreciated, I noticed you came via "DownUnder", I was near there........sort of, visiting my Daughter in New Zealand, hoping to get back there to see the Rugby World Cup this year.

I decided to start off slow, and purchased a Garrett Ace 350 for now, I felt it was the easiest to learn the new detectors, I am sure there are others who might have choosen another Manufacture or Model, but all reviews pointed to a fairly easy learning curve............it has to be easy than having figured out the Search Kings years ago. I will let the members know my take on this Detector, as I haven't touched anything else since putting down the D-Tex.
