Dan, if you're having trouble seeing what you're typing, it's OK to use caps.   We'd lot rather hear from you than have you not post because you're worried about what we might think.   Just remember that you may have to remind us why you are using them (not every post, just the ones that people are likely to misunderstand, or if people ask you why you're shouting).

Clapp Good you on your way ,Now persistence is what will make it pay off. OH yes you will need to invest in a little better detector but first you need to figure out what you want it to do for you?? So you have a little home work to do.
Detecting The nice thing about the crazy thing we do for a few coins or that yellow stuff that won't let us have a good nite sleep or maybe is just me. last weekend I met with a group of guys that are so sick with cabbin fever, Grown men digging thru snow & ice looking for a few spec of ORO that gold for those of you that are just getting started. And yes we found some andhad a ball tested some new equipment and met some nice people.

Welcome on the board trapperman, I am new here too.
I have pretty much detected since the early 80's with a Fisher M-Scope 55D. I just recently got a couple of the new ones with some better discrimination. I plan on taking my 9 year old Granddaughter with me this spring. We both are catching a case of spring fever here in Minnesota.

I like the SMF boards. I have created a few boards using that program also. I used them for about three years now, Before that was PHPbb. The Administration here has done some real nice stuff with the website. I might have to try some of those games sometime.  I need to post a couple more posts too to see what the heck I am missing.  Wise

Here is a picture of the Fisher I have used for a few decades. I think now it will be mostly collecting dust with the new White and Bounty Hunter that I bnought.  It still works like new.

thanks Morris. I also have an 8 yr. old grand daughter. I love taking her with me. I look for good stuff but I think she likes
the junk more than the good stuff. She is hooked. and so am I.

Hey there akstang_65 nice car. Do you do the car show thing?
You live in gold country I have freinds that go go to Rye patch every year for a little gold detecting. What do you like to do. Gold or Relic or both? I like to do both. I have a place that I go to pan for gold. Just haven't made it there with my detector yet. I have been going out to old homesteads thats the best I can do until the weather straightens up. It is still cold up in Elko.
