Hi all
great work on the pcb xavier thanks

Dooley,  coil inductance, yes I have had the same problem, I have made a few PI coils with the design specs given in projects and measured with my meter and hard to believe the inductance on meter, I have a post over at the GT forum about the HH coil

Dooley,    Pics, I burnt a few pics about 10 years ago with other peoples codes, 12c508, 16f84A for R/c controllers worked ok, but I have been left behind well and truly with programming.
There is some good stuff on pics at the GT forum in projects .One of the guys did some mods to give an external pot to alter some of the pulse timings.
Moodz is doing some great work to
I was thinking about having a crack at modifying a LED flasher code, but I am probably kidding myself

I like the 16f84A, because you can reburn them, and my burner works ok with them , but I have no hope of writing the code,

is anybody good at writing code here ?

we only need a TX pulse and two sample pulses. see cut down cct attached

Hi japanese , yes we are having a bit of fun  Detecting

hello 6666 ,

just re-checked my coil as i first checked it whilst on the floor , screws in the floor and all that , so checked it in the air ,
same 527uH , oh well.

the pic thing , read on geo , don't most people use them for signal proccesing , remember someone saying not to use some of them to also do tx aswell as it "slows it down" to much to do ,
could be wrong,

pics would open up a new world for me , but still shying away from them , keep trying to "get into them" but it all
looks goble'd'gook to me.

on paper , some pics look brilliant , speed ,lots of memory , lots of sample bits , well i used to program zx81's so how hard can it be , do "they" make one that uses basic ?

nice "front end" you have in your picture , looks familier , but then dont they all , there is only a certain number of ways
a front of a pi can be done , some available schematics online do look a little impossible though.

little mod i was thinking of trying was swoping the 741 voltage follower on the squirrel for a TL071 , higher input resistance so less loading on the hold cap , only a thought , may not make allot of differance.

Hi Guys

Dooley you should get your self a programme called FlowCode you will be super happy. If you do then to go with it get the PicKit2 programmer you don't really need to get that as there are loads that you can build your self but to get going it would be better. The 16f877a is a great chip then for Glcd you could use the 18f2550 then get the 16f690 a great chip to smaller than the 877a but very powerful . I'm working on a PIC detector at the moment I have a lot of work to do on it yet but I have designed a development board  specific to metal detectors that will make life for me a lot easier have not build it yet but should do in the next few day I also did a bit of code to test the board once build (quite excited about this little project)

All the best
Xavier

hello xavier ,

hmmmm , i am tempted , but at the moment the idea for my next project i have managed to work out a solution
using discrete components , so ok at the moment , but i'm sure there will be a day when i will need to go down this route for a solution , i'm sure one day i will get the "pic bug" and enjoy it all ,  Smiley

think is what i'll poss do , is wait for a time when my mind is empty of projects , sit down and play with them with no project in mind and no preasure , get to know whats what , then they will be an option that i'm comfortable with ,
that will be an route to go down when discrete building would be to complicated.  Smiley

You all done did good on that one.   The basic of basic PI detectors.    You could derive the timing from something as simple as a few Or Gates.   If you used a Crystal in it ,it would be most stable.

Last time I did any Programing was on a ZX-81 in Basic running it through a Compiler to Machine code.  LOL!    How Old Am I?
