"yes i used pvc covered wire as apparantly it would be a "faster" coil if the conductors were sepperated ,
poss this has increaced the inductance."

This will reduce the inductance not increase it.

OK no problem I will change the trace and bring them closer also will make the tracks wider but one can also place solder on them to make them stronger.  And do post us them pic's I haven't had a good laugh today yet LOL

hello everybody ,

below is a collection of pic's of my build machine and board pic's etc.

the small box with the led's is my charger ,

Posted on: August 16, 2011, 02:42:55 AM
some more pic's of my build,

Posted on: August 16, 2011, 02:54:10 AM
and the rest of them , had to load sepperatley , file size limit ,

Posted on: August 16, 2011, 02:55:55 AM
ther are more presets on the board than in the schematic , some are now not used as not req.

Posted on: August 16, 2011, 02:56:57 AM
oh and the 8 pin in the bottom right is the first op-amp , i listed as a TL071 , i didnt originaly have one so altered the pin config of a TL072 as a tempory , hence the wire link over the top , have a TL071 now , so swopping today.

Posted on: August 16, 2011, 03:13:22 AM
HANG ON A MO ,

just noticed on the pic's , i only have 4 caps down the middle , my memory fails me , so only 4000uF total ,
works well , will be playing with it today and will check to see if there is any "flutter" on the top rail in opperation.

also now remember doing the same as carl regarding the power to the first op-amp , used 33ohm not 27 ohm on supply and drain with 47uF caps to ground rail to reduce any chance of interferance , but , turns out not req with the TL as i did a simulation with deliberate 0.2v noise into +supply , and guess what , nothing showing on output pin unless railed out that is , brilliant little op-amp , funny thing is , do the same to an ne5534 or a 741 and noise comes out.

originaly had set board up with an offset null for the first op-amp , but didnt use , having a play with that also today and poss increace voltage to 1st amp also , then shift the signal up or down a bit , see what happens .

Thats a great project dooley, thats what home brew is all about
looks like a bit more interest should be taken in these tl071's
if they tend to reject noise ?

Darn it all and I thought that I was going to have a good chuckle Hey guys guess what LOL I managed to destroy the PCB file I occidentally overwrote it  Grin #@% stupid any how now I have a good reason to do it over Dooley I'll see how your layout works for a PCB so you may as well scrap all the old files on the PCB as I will be posting a new one in dew coarse.

All the best
Xavier  PS like the paint roller handle idea

LOL!  Maybe I can sell the ZX-81 configured as a LRL gizmo.   The Chunky Graphics would make a dandy Geo Logger!, Eaaaa?

I think I still have a Tape Drive for it too.  LOL!

XAVIER , well spotted , paint roller handle , comfortable fit , and the other end matched my pipe , lucky eh.

6666 , yes the TL is a low noise amp , if thats what a low noise amp is all about ,i'm using more of them ,also i picked it due to having very low input draw due to fet input stage , the output won't go as close to the rail as a bipolar ,but  1.6V away from each rail is ok , but hey , that's fine by me , nice little TL amp's......ohhhhhh.

homefire , you keep hold of your zx , one day it'll be worth load to your great great great great great great grand children.

attatched below is a pic of various metal and output from 1st op-amp (inverting) interesting ??

Posted on: August 16, 2011, 11:21:09 AM
forgot to add , been playing with it today ,swoped the converted TL072 for the TL071 ,and added offset null circuit , shifted it to look at the beggining of the curve , upped the 1M to 3M on the op-amp .
also swopped the 741 voltage follower after the sample hold cap to a TL071 to reduce drain on the cap.
now i have reduced the target to a lower voltage , i have removed the resistor from the coarce threshold pot and gone straight to ground to lower the threshold voltage.

when looking at pic's dont worry about the "wobble" on the top line just after the half way point , it's my sample point warping the scope a little , as you can see by the gap on the bottom line , the peek has been chopped off when i cropped the pics .

pic description's unfortunatly been abreviated :

nota=no target
£1 is a nickle based coin i think , round ,22mm dia ,3mm thick
rest are self explanitary i think.

UPDATE ON PROJECT :

oh , i have been very silly , swopping the optical isolator going to the audio 555 for a simple npn ,

been checking opperation on simulator ,

a transistor "follows" the voltage from base to emmiter minus 0.7v or there abouts , now the 555 wont start to oscilate until pin 7 gets above about 10.5V , output from the op-amp used as a comparitor starts at 1v ish up rail -1V so 14V of there abouts , yet my config would only start to make a sound after 10.5V or so ,

tried a 555 with the optical isolator in and i get a nice increace in pitch from 1.7V up to 14V

in conclusion , ive been very silly , and a little simple havn't i ?

 Grin Grin Grin
