Hi X,
I'm pretty surprised that you had problems with the 2010 coils.
Are you sure that the coil is the problem?
Exactly what problems are you experiencing? no depth? instability?
I had MANY stability problems with the Magenta P.I. that I built.
I thought it was the coil but it turned out to be as simple as one of the I.C. sockets I'd used!
Took me hours to find it though!

Paul I'm not sure any more I have replaced all the components I have made many different coils with different inductance ranging from 330uH to 2mH (0.7 Ohm to 5 Ohms) and used 3 different wire gauge 0.5mm 0.8mm and 0.9mm all have resulted in a very poor detection depth for a tuna tin 250 gr job about 35cm a coin +- 5cm but what I must tell you is I never replaced the IC sockets and I used two coil size 230mm and 280mm now I will remove the IC sockets and see if that will make a difference.

Regards Xavier

Hi X,
Are you able to test the current going into the coil?
This sounds like a similar problem that I had, down to a faulty power transistor.

Hi Paul

Well I removed all the sockets and still the same as for the power transistor I replaced it too it's a 2n3773. Thanks for your help Paul I will have a look at the current going to the coil. Mind you I can hear the coil vibrating (small coil 235 uH 0.8 wire)

Regards Xavier

Hi X,
Don't know if you are aware but there is apparently a small error on the P.C.B.
It's covered somewhere on here, but I can't seem to find it at the moment.......

Eugene will know. He's probably the one who found the error. He's spent hundreds of hours verifying schematics against boards.

Hi Paul

Well as you can see I moved the topic but in the process I seem to have lost the VLF topic and my last post so here I go again the Delta board is not the same as the DBP2010 how ever I do have more info for you when I power up the unit I get a nice audio signal for about 2 sec and the same when I power off  but when I bring a metallic object near the coil I get an audio signal that sounds like a rooster being choked it sounds like it's being held back on the receiver side a bit like a clogged water pipe. Do you understand what I'm trying to explain to you? and do you want me to post some photos of it?
