Fabulous pix and post. Can you point me to more info on low capacitance coils and winding.
Seems to be a key.

Yes good coil is a key
Добрый вечер !

Привет Eugene and all detectorists,  Hello

Sorry for late answers, i am very busy with my job and i have no spare time at all.

I will try to help you to make it.

Here is a coil and data.

And here is a method which can help about all kind of coils.

Good will and light spirit gonna make you happy.

As you know this is not usual Pulse Induction MD.
This is one of MPS PI.
MPS - Multi Period Sense. It have 4 modes of Discrimination.

1. No disc.
2. Light disc.
3. Medium disc.
4. High disc.

In mode 4 he can cut trashy irron and wrought-iron at all.
Barrier mode which is key selectable is for tuning sense 1. Max sense 16 Min sense.

You must play a little with sense keys to get optimal performance. Of course if you made a good coil.
Without it chance won't work well and you will thinking that MD is nothing at all. But you wrong.
First make a coil then do some fields test (experiments) and then put some text (experience) at this forum.
If you wish you can put it also on MD4u.RU
These are hires pics of spider coil.
I made it in dimension 1:1 at 600 dpi. Just print all halves on printer in A4 format, glue it to some plastic, stiro-foam, plywood or any good insulator, cut the profil and wind the wire like in above pic.

About LCDs.

Andy_F used BC-1602B-GPLCHb (фирма Bolymin). Подойдёт любой 16 x 2 , HD44780 - совместимый.

Maybe any LCD Modules Hitachi compatible like for example Optrex LCD 16x2 FSTN White Transflective White LED Backlight or
МТ- 16S2H, ЖКИ WHD1602D-YYK-CTK (производства Winstar) etc.

This is a diagram of discrim how it can be seen on LCD.

Оригинальный Алфавитно-цифровой ЖК-модуль BC1602B фирмы Bolymin имеет 14 контактов.Равно,как и другие с протоколом HD44780.

does anybody make it?
in how much of depth it can detect?
and is it discrim well ?
can you please name a detector in this range and as powerful as it?
sorry for my English

The only valid tests of depth and discrim are real tests on a real fiels. There on the earth are so many various type of soils as you know. Make own Chance and do yourself real field tests on soil where you live and you will know the qulity of Chance from your own experience. This is only serious matter. The real experience. Keep it mind.

you could implement a heatsink

It's not necessary. The output MOSFET dont work in continuous mode like class A Power Amplifiers. Work in pulse mode. Average power dissipation from fet it not so large so we dont need a heatsink for it. Smiley

Hi all,

I've just tested a prototype of a basic PI machine I've built from an EPE magazine article; still disassembled but functional. It cost me 80 bucks to build. I was going to try and improve it but...

Hi

Then I saw this message board. I'd be very keen to build this "Chance" thing and put it through its paces on some "real" mineralised Australian ground.  Shocked

Has anyone (Hasan, Gurdal, etc) done any quantitative depth tests on the "Chance"?

Hi robotek, for your info this one i mean Chance which was designed by Andy_F  used some very complex methods of sampling in multiple points and then recalculate time constants of targets including t.c. of ground. The scale of t.c. is LOG scale. This t.c. coefficients help microcontroller to estimate useful target and discrim againsts bad one. The code was written in C by Andy_F. This MD is based on Bruce H. Candy  5506506 patent. If you look at first page of Chance topic under CLONE PI thread you can read it. Answer to you is that. CHANCE is Russian-Australian kid. Smiley

Hi Kotsansher
Thank you for the fantastic post.
Just one question. The picture of the coil on the instructions on how to make it on the link at ?"One of variants of fast mono coil with low interwinding capacitance"" looks different to the one on the photos of the one you made.
Can you explain the difference or the way you wire it up?
Kind regards
Nickel

Hi Nickel,
you are right. And here is explanation. In a time i have made the pics i didnt finish the coils. I need 2 for each one Chance. I couldnt pic a Chance without a coil so i used ine of my self made deep coil and made a photo with it. Its just for clarity. This MD need a good fast mono coil like thirsty man in Australian bush.
Made one with teflon and convince yourself. Smiley

You can find here all Andy_F projects:
ClonePI, ClonePI_AVR, ClonePI-2, ClonePI_W (Scuba PI), Chance including hex, pcb layouts, schematics and many useful hints and tips about Andy's PI detectors. I wish you sucess with it if you try to build one.

Its peremptory to use HyperUpload.com

HyperUpload.com - is a Free "upload & share" service.
There are no registration and no fees.
There is nothing to install.
All you need is a your internet browser and a file you want to upload.

Just select a file, click the "upload" button and your file is hosted.
Then send the link to whomever you want to share the file with.
FREE file hosting upto 1 Gb.

I check a link. Its OK. Shocked

hex  chance the protus Simulation Gives  eror   why؟
This made me a metal detector Of course, with little change in Power supply and pcb ,This detector is very good separation A separate voice in LCD .The only problem it would only explore low Mr. Kotsansher there a way to increase the search range is ?

Coin  30 cm

Steel 30 * 30     120 cm

 Foil 50*50        160 cm

my coil not spider Is simple in coil 50 cm .Why larger coil device is unstable?

in pi discrimination, in my openion it is impossible to discriminate metals in pi md.eg, different kinds of metal in different holes maybe it can discriminate, but in one hole with different kinds of metals (mixed) it is impossible.eg. big alluminum sheet over 1kilo gold? and under the gold is iron flat bar? how could it can discriminate? i think it's impossible.it only detects the alluminum sheet.

wizards, how could it be? pls explain if it is possible.

regards,
ram'
