No its not. Its a fact. I dont belive in Magic (white, blue, yellow...) I belive in FACTs.
And facts are so simple.
Multi period sampling machines are reallity. I so hate to type on this boring keyboard.
Unbelivable so High Tech all over the world and i still must type letter by letter on this kbrd...
What is with 100% Speech Recognition on every language. Its a science fiction.
And a human race wish to discover ETHERNAL UNIVERSE. Ha-Ha-Ha.....

And now Фёдоров Андрей [AKA (Also known As)] F.Andy on the biggest Russian forum for metal detectorists and treasure hunters and other adventurers called Народный форум md4u.ru or Народный проект металлоискателя MD for you
(in free translation "Buddy Forum Metal Detecting for You" present his newest project.
Full microprocessor Discrimination Pulse Induction Metal detector which for sure discriminate among non-ferrous
(coloured "цветной") and ferrous "чёрный" (non-coloured) materials called by author "Шанс" (Chance).

Picture of ЖКИ "Visual Display Interface" with 2 scale. Its a standard 16x2 char. LCD with backligh.

Upper one is a Full Discrim Scale with a processor controlled moving slider right or left. One side of slider is for Coloured metals and another one is for ferrous or non-coloured. Its a genius simple like Андрей itself.

Down scale show amplitude of sampling targets, relative to search coil. Its used like depth indicator.

All Digital Signal Precessing Techinques are implemented in well known and cheap Atmel Mega-8 Micro Controller running at 11.0592 MHz. Down to the right is a Battery indicator.

Keyboard is so simple.

* S1 "Barrier-"
* S2 "Barrier+"
* S3 "Volume-"
* S4 "Volume+"
* S5 "Zero"
* S6 "Discrimination"

The keyboard doesnt need a comments. Its also so clear.

Параметры катушки, с которой отрабатывалась программа: L = 400 uH, R = 1,7 Ohm.
Желательно использовать максимально близкую по параметрам катушку.

Like a Андрей said корзинка по Российский (the coil) for "Шанс" (Chance) is a FML (Fast Mono Loop) like a basket.
Its very important for "Шанс" (Chance) to have as little as possible low inter-winding capacitanse, good insulation, and external and internal diameter like authors original.
Its certainly not so hard to make one just like this on the picture.

And rest of all is a Configration of Microcontroller Fuse and Security bits. I have no comment.
So all is cristal clear.

This is a short explanation of ШАНС (Chanse). If you like it then made it.
All you need to do is to spend few bucks for materials, made a PCB, solder components,
program the processor, make a coil and go for it golden rush.

Hello Again kotsansher !!! Excellent Post !!!! I Think the price might be closer to $100 U.S. dollars for parts . Do you have schematics or a parts list or is it sold as a complete kit ? How does it work on small gold or Silver coins ? Can you buy the programming or just buy a pre-programmed chip ? Sorry for all the questions but I am very excited to see this posted on our Forum !! If this PI Metal Detector works Great , it will be the Project of the year !! Waveing

Sorry for late answer, i am very busy with my job.

I think the all parts are about 50 bucks. Mega 8 is around 5 bucks, LCD 16x2 around 10-15 bucks, MCP 3201 around 10, IRF around 5 and all other around 20 or little.

I said this is a freeware project. Andy_F made it to be freeware. Just for all the people who really love to make yourself a metaldetectors.

Eugene maybe you know Russian language, cyrillic alphabet so you can join MD4u.RU and ask what ever you want. I dont know. But if you dont speak Russian so well, you can still talk with Андрей. He excellent speak English so there is no problem.

About programming.

If you check MD4u.RU forum in ШАНС (CHANCE) thread (it is in CLONE PI topic) you can see a link to Андрей

personal site. There are all Андрей projects. The complete schem. was done by Андрей in CaptureCIS (integral part

of ORCAD). The PCB and mounting sch. are done in layout plus (PCB design module of ORCAD). There is a full working hex Chance_04.zip, programmed in C or C++.(If you interested in what is it done, ask Андрей).

Андрей FMC (fast mono coil type spider).

The Coil properties are L = 400 uH, R = 1,7, C= around 40 pF or little, diamm 10 inch.
Eugene if you can find a teflon insulated wire you can try to make ultra fast spider coil with a very little self capacitanse and got a selfmade coil better of Minelabs coils. I think so.

The software is PonyProg. The most famous serial device programmer for PICs on the net (Atmel, MicroChip, Xillinx and others). Its a very powerfull and easy to use.

And something about coil. If any of you have original Minelab coils from gold prospecting machines ex. SD,GP or GPX can try to conect it to ШАНС and do some interesting test in the air and soil.

I have some interesting infos. The Фёдоров Андрей do a hard work on some interesting improvements of Chance. New prototype will be equiped with new better processor, new graphical display LCD 240x128 or similar. Will have a graphical presentation of discrimination targets. Masking on undesired targets will be on X-Y axis of cordinates. Another things will be graphical estimation of targets depth, sound improvements and maybe something more. Does that new machine will be freeware like ШАНС (Chance) оr commercial product i really dont know. If you are interesting about it ask Андрей.

I forgot to say. The most important and crucial thing about ШАНС is a COIL. The coil must be made very quality. That mean it must have so little as possible inter-winding capacitanse, good insulation and dimension like Андрей coil. Also cable which connect ШАНС with coil must be very quality with little resistanse (i mean on static-thermic resistance) and self capacitanse. The tests must be done in area of little industrial disturbances (i mean on all king of noise in urban area). If you do some prospecting in areas of much disturbances (noises) when do some shielding of coil. Again do it very quality. If this requirements are satisfied i think that results will dont leave out.

I forgot to say about RAR archives. The pcb in RAR archives are in Sprint Layout format ***.lay
Its a very popular format on old continent. If in some archives are schematics, format for it is ***.spl
