Hi Xavier

I'm in the same boat, about the same distance. Also check r18 and r22 (from memory) the markings on the PCB for these are a bit confusing (to me anyway).

Talking about P2, does your tune dial work as expected, when I turn mine up, I just get beeps each couple of seconds.

Ant

Hi Antman

I did notice those resistors but I'm sure that I have them in the right place as for the tune pot there is not much happening just at one point it stops to detect altogether. I replaced P2 with a 10K pot but now it's worse any how I think that we are all having the same problem but I'm sure that we will be able to sort it all out in time to come.

Regards Xavier

Hi Guys,
I used the parts from the "whites surfmaster" schematic (mpsa13, tip32 etc....) rather than some of the stuff I've seen floating around.
Works just great.
Getting 25 cm on a coin with no difficulty.
Hope that helps!

Hi X,
Yes, same board.
The layout is exactly the same, (in fact it might not be quite right screen print wise for some of the component lists I've seen in terms of transistor lead outs)
It also seems fairly critical to use the low power "555" rather than an ordinary version.

Hi All
if you compare the schematics that silverdog post and the original whites surf pi schematics there are differences.
also the parts list that been posted and the parts list of Apb -- I think was the pcb designer--you will find out there are differences.
Also the original stock coil for the surf pi is 230uH 1.37ohm.
I put my pi together but I haven't turn it on yet.I will after i work out all the differences and let you know about the results.
you can find out allot of info and pictures on geotech1 web site.but more often than not conflicting.

Hi Paul

Well there is something that is wrong with the components or the placement of them I did not have the time to really look into it yet but will probably have time as of Monday.

Hi nickel_n

Do let us know what you find in turn if I find something before you I will post my findings.

All the best
Regards Xavier

All of this back and forth banter is getting tiresome and wasteful. It would be more helpful if someone would post the exact schematic from which the boards were derived instead of just giving it lip service (finger service?). The most likely candidate to do this is Silverdog.

Has me a little worried, because I just ordered and I am not great with electronics but I can solder, read a schematic, resistors and what I can't remember from 20+ years ago I can research it.

BTW when should I expect the kit. How many days from ship date?

Doug

Finished up my board. Haven't fired it up yet. I have the scheme and parts list for the unit from Silverdog, however think it better for him to post it. The board went together very well with a nice layout. The speaker is a bit crowded but with a little creative bending of the leads before insertion looks good. If Silverdog sold you the board, he will send you the scheme and parts list.

Doug. Silverdog even hand marks the resistors with a bit of tape so you don't have to read the color code!!! You should have no trouble building the board.

Paul A. The 555 supplied is a NE555N not low power like the 7555 or TLC555. If I have problems will take a look at that. If I remember.... the 7555 has some internal capacitors etc to make the chip more stable and requires less external parts.

Now.... Off to build a coil and fire it up.
