I've never user any of those two but the Gold buddy looks the best bang for the buck to me.

Build one for a third the cost.  That would include a good blower motor.

I'm thinking the same thing....with as many drywasher plans out there as there are, it seems like a waste to buy one.   Most of the plans look simple enough that even us non-technical people should be able to make one.  Even if I have to pay to have some welding done, that's still going to be cheaper than a store bought machine (and I've been thinking of off the shelf stuff I could use for the riffles so I don't need to do any welding at all).

Homefire and BA said it all. By building it your self you save money and have a better product in the end. Somewhere on here there is a thread about using a grass blower  for the motor.

Nice....and it looks like anyone who can measure, saw, cut, bend, drill, and bolt could make one similar (i.e. no welding required).  Bet it works like a charm too

BA, I mostly agree with building with one small exception. Anyone who does a DIY drywasher project almost always has trouble with durability. Those puppies get some very hard shakes and can wear badly. They have to blow a strong updraft and shake like the dickens to be really efficient. They've been referred to as a Dancing Girl or a Bouncing Betty before with good reason.

I recommend some study in vibrational stress before you build one. Your loss in efficiency if you don't bounce the aggregate is significant.

GD.....thanks.

I had planned for mine to  vibrate, but I may need to upgrade both the vibrating apparatus and the overall strength of the unit-----All without making the unit so heavy see that I can't lug far from my pick-up truck.   Still I'll probably go the dyi route since I'm kind of cheap but I'll spend more time making sure it can handle the vibration.  If it comes to it, I'll figure out a way to help move the machine from one part of the claim to another.

BA

btw, you wouldn't believe the images that went through my mind when I read "Bouncing Betty".   I've always associated that term with a particularly nasty type of anti-personnel land mine.

Yep! Stressed they are.

The one I posted Photo's of has had many a bolts put back in.

It has a fan blade on the Air Input just as it enters the Box with a screw in one blade to vibrate.

It does it's job.

That old machine has produced for me quite well.

The Only complaint is the blower motor eats about a quart of Mix every hour.

Loud as hell and You Need to stay down wind of the Beast or your chocked up.

I use a Keene 141 - I have a routine of going through tailing's of other drywashers and recover a surprising amount of "missed" material from home made a puffer type equipment
