Compact florescent light, In other words light bulbs. they have a drop of mercury inside that vaporizes and allow electricity to flow which in turn excites the phosphor coating on the inside of the bulb and boom we have light, just dont breathe if you drop one  Grin

Mercury prices are currently around USD102-104/kg. 7 flasks containing 60 lbs each is worth a fair bit of money! Assuming his find is of decent grade and uncontaminated, 7 x 60 = 420lbs. 420lbs = 190.51kg. Lets call it USD102/kg of mercury. That would make his find potentially worth USD19,432.02 before deducting shipping costs. Very nice!

This is utter nonsense. Mercury can be scrapped just like any metal. You make it sound like it's against the law to own it.

GD you can't ship it here without Major Hassles.

No one wants to deal with it.

That guy could sell it but he too is afraid to mess with it.

That's silly. Does New Mexico fly their own regulations despite EPA rules to the contrary?

Sometimes I just don't get you, Homefire. You seem to like acting as if everything is too scary or too hard for words. Nobody I know of is afraid to handle mercury nor are they afraid of the regulations. You're not a criminal because you use it.
