I'd add a 12" piece of 2x6 to your tools.  fits across the top of the box to place a rock on if the currents too quick.  I really like you idea for screening rocks.

I use an aluminum backpack frame I got for a buck at Goodwill. I attach the sluice to the frame with bungees standing up. I put my 5 gallon bucket on the frame by setting it into the sluice. There is about a 6" shelf that the backpack used to to sit on. It's just a couple of pegs that fold down and they make a perfect holder for the sluice and bucket. My small gear sets inside the bucket and I put my shovel in it as well or set it and my pick along the sides. My two goldpans lay across the side of the bucket and are held on with more bungees. I get everything I need for a day of panning/sluicing and have my hands totally free to hold a metal detector or anything else. I wish I had a picture to show the whole setup, but the desktop that those photos were on shorted out and I haven't had time to to recover the data from the hard drive yet, if it hasn't fried too.
