Like I said, you ain't missin much and that isn't a prospector's lie... but then again I think prospecting is a lot like steelhead fishing, it takes time to get it figured out and then you can still mess it up and walk home with nothing.

UPDATE:

It seems the BLM has started to Enforce a Old Reg or New?

This has not come up before but is going to open a lot of ground because Paper Hanger Claim filers have to Prove the Pudding.

Now There Enforcing  Names and Addresses on Associated Claims.

For those who don't know, One claim is limited to 20 acres.

But you can open associated Claims with up to 10 names to bring that to 200 acres.

Now there (BLM) are requiring Power of Attorney and Notarized Documents from the Associates to Renew and File Claims.

This is going to end a pile of claims and open up a lot of grounds.

Nice! Just when I get to thinking the whole mess is hopelessly mired. I know a lot of claims in my neck o the wood will probably open up.

Now my pessimistic mind says when this land opens the BLM will immediately slap a non use designator on it  Grin

That was my first thought, too....followed by or "the feds will turn it into a National Monument like they did with a lot of Arizona and New Mexico land during the Clinton years."........same impact either way--they  make us think we're getting access to a bunch of new territory only to make it harder to get access.

This will definitely open up a lot more ground, however I don't think it is as much as we would all like. This will be harder to track without the geocommunicator. I wouldn't mind being able to seize up a recently canceled mining claim... it is on my to do list this summer.

Great minds think alike BA Smiley

Did we win or lose? Perhaps this is why geoc was taken down?

What would have taken just a few minutes to find with geocommunicator will now take a lot of resources (gas, food, maps, gps, etc.) but on the other hand is that a bad thing or a good thing?

It makes us prospect the old way and perhaps keeps a few more at home that wouldn't use the land anyway.

I could be a bonus for us that like to tramp around the bush.  Undecided

It is a bonus to us who work hard. That is why I want my claim to be off of the beaten path. I don't want to be able to drive up and drop my 5" dredge into the water. I want hike a mile or two maybe three to a claim with no water, that means less people have dug there, that also means less people claim jumping and making a mess of things. Now with geocom down it makes it harder for me, but that tells me that the weary are easily scared off. I didn't really trust geocom all that much anyway. Once geocom started up, a guy could go on fleabay and buy all of the claims from people that soley resorted to using geocom. Inherently, most of those claims were already occupied. I think geocom just threw gas on the fire, it just made it too easy for unscrupulous people to take advantage of honest people looking to buy a claim. I miss it because I liked to recon different areas online before I explored, but I am happy it is gone because that just means my chances of actually staking a productive claim are that much higher.

Cheers

Sean

GeoCom was Kick But for what it did if you knew how to use it .

As for Updated Records, you had to check them over anyways and that's the way it was.

I use to use it to find contacts of claim owners and I could ask them for permission to Play on there claims .

For every 10 asked, I've only been told stay off twice.

I had a E-Mailed Permission Slip in hand every time I went to a claim.

This Program was Cool Too as it Tied GeoCom to Google Earth and you could do even more on it.

Unfortunately, The GeoData Base is history and it no longer works.

News Flash:   minecache.com is still working.   I tried it and it's still bumping along.

I contacted the Site Web master and he said it's still working with the data 2 weeks in the rear.

He stated , he thinks he found a way to keep it runing.  Only time will tell but I'm a Hoping!

I was able to pull up Claim Names, Records from LR2000 and more!   Whhhhhoooooooo Hooooooooo!

Thanks for the hit. I did enjoy the site, it was just the people who took advantage of the system that screwed it all up. I will check out your site when I get home.

Cheers

Sean
