Just a word about the cleaning of the Silver coins mentioned in this thread, I have used a couple of methods that have been posted, the spit on foil and electrolysis, you have to be very carefull with both methods, the foil can scratch a silver coin, and to much of the electro treatment can damage a silver coin very badly.

So for coins that can be worth a bit I do neather, because there are a lot of safer ways, the cheepest being lemon juice, or dioluted jenolite.

Christoph...I have no idea if it is HCI based, it comes in jell or liquid form, more commonly known as rust eater, and has to be diluted. Diluted form which is what I have used in the past, but I never leave the coin unatended, it's only the really heavy encrusted coins(silver) that I have needed to use Jenolite.
