Cheesy I guess my treatment has worked after all  Funny Hi Vickie, I mean Viking..... Great to hear from you again... thought you had all ran away  Hello This next weekend I am going to the artillery site to look for some more of my gold coins  Great cannot wait..... Viking, why has your blog gone stale  Wise I have read the same thing so many times, I know it word for word  No no! Have you been back to the farm lately???

Jim, glad to hear that you are going to the UK, I am heading there August / September, first time since 1973..... You do know they have my photograph on their gold coins  Kiss please don't hand them in to the coroner when you find them, I battle to get them back  Grin
I don't think that the depth is that needed over there, as even the caches have been found quite shallow..... Those fields are so dug up that most of the stuff is on or near the surface.... That is going to be so exciting for you..... Who is running this hunt? Sierra?

Wonder where the others are? Come on guys,,,,,,,,

Peter. The fellow running this hunt is Roy Davis. He is a fantastic host and a real gentleman. This is my 5th trip with him and have never failed to enjoy these hunts.
I know the fields are ploughed and reploughed but some times the targets are deeper than most detectors can go and this is where the GPX will shine over the others. Anyway I'm going to give it a go and hopefully it'll do me good. A gold coin this trip, perhaps....I will be the happiest guy on the planet if I could pull one of those discs out of mother earth.
Jim
PS: If it has your mug on it, I'll definitely e/mail it to you...that's e/mail not snail mail....LOL

That's it when I get back to the land of all evil I'm taking you to see a doctor man your state of mind is getting worst by the day I'm really starting to worry about you Pgill. I'm trying to work out how to do pic programing seems to me the more I read about it the more confused I get and that really gets to me. I got a converter USB to serial paid 180.00 bucks for the damn thing and it's proved to be quite useless (that makes me mad  Angry ).
So Viking "Vickie" what did they do to you mate?  Grin  Should not laugh should I   Grin but I just can't stop my self I was going to come past your way to see you on my way back from the land of all evil but just did not have the time perhaps I should come by for a weekend some time? Jimmy whats the depth that you get with your GPX5000? I like to compare performances of other detectors with the one that I'm working on. Sure hope you have a great time in the UK and don't worry about Pgill I'll get him to a doctor soon.

All the best
Xavier

Cheesy ok I am alright now, yes alright now, yes alright now, yes alright now...... what was I talking about  Shocked Hey Xavier, I see that pic programmer is making you as mad as a hatter  Laughing I got a great doctor if you need him  Idiot
Now what do you need a USB to serial for? Why are you battling with that programmer? surely it cant be that bad can it?  Wise Viking has had to change his name to vickie,,,,, he went to my doctor, and the scalpel slipped which caused a slight problem..... We always wanted a lady in the group, now we have one  Musican Laola
Jim, I am waiting for the hole in my yard.... with that deep seeker, I know you will be here sooner or later  :Smiley  Great

Hi Xavier...The GPX is awesome on depth. I'm not 100% sure but I think a denarius at 12 to 15 inches is a very real possibility. I have dug a US quarter at over 15 inches so the groats will come into play as well. I'm only hoping that I don't tire out digging as the GPX also likes iron and I think after the first day I will figure out the iron signals but I will dig everything I hear....fortunately most of our fields are plowed so the digging is fairly easy.
I'm getting my list ready and the adrenalin is starting to flow as I speak.
Take care, Jim

Pgill...what can I say, the doctor has a pill for everything and I'm sure you will come out of your current situation with no problems. Keep smiling....I do....

Although I also use USB to serial on my PIC, it's bit old-school. There are converters at R150.00 that directly converts TTL to USB2 ... it's the way to go

Hi levettp

Could you give me more info on it? I'm getting an error when I program the PIC when it dose the code verification  Sad but when I plug it in my desk top (on the serial port) it programs the chip without any errors. Do you have a link that I could go and have a look at it?

Hi Jimmy

Sounds good I have not found any coins yet so still cant tell how it performs on coins that have been buried for some time but I have been finding very small pieces of wire (lots of that on the farm) some were so small that I had a really hard time to find them.

So Pgill are you ready to climb up that mountain again?

Regards Xavier
