Go Up Go Down

I was wondering if anyone had a brand of waterproof connector and a place to get them.. Here is my project. My Garrett Sea Hunter came with a hard wired 7.5 inch coil. I purchased a 10" coil and am looking for on a little bigger. I need to find a waterproof connecter that can take the pressure up to 200 ft. I haven't received the 10" coil..its on its way. I also need to educate myself on wiring of these coils and if someone had some schematics on the wiring including the wiring color codes...That would be so awesome.

Thanks,
keith

Your VLF XL500 is a bit of a Enigma!

I found a photo of the board showing the coil wires but not much else.

It runs at 15KHz  and was based on one of the early Garret VLF circuits.

Thanks enigma for the pic... I know the wires atop........... green, white, black, red and shielding are the coil.... do you know what they are and any idea on connectors......... I hear a lot of good and some bad about my detector.. I haven't taken her out to the ocean yet... I hear conflicting info about this detector in salt water though..... the other weird thing about this detector it take 3 9V NiCD batteries.. instead of the seven sub-C's I keep reading about... thanks again..

I pulled that photo from GeoTech.

I don't know what wire is what.

It's a concentric coil so you should be able to Ohm them out.

I hope Eugene can come up with a connector.

The only ones I've ever found cost a bundle.

The Pules is nothing the same.

Single Coil.

VLF has Concentric and will be four wires and ground.

The VLF units in salt water are abysmal. Truly bad but the PI units are exceptional. Use yours for fresh water and you will be ecstatic. It really works great in lakes and rivers. As good as the PI units.

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.
