Hello!

I believe this long lost cache could be very deep. Possibly 3 feet or more down.

The area is heavily forested and on a pretty steep slope so the hunting is difficult to say the least.

I have been saving up for the detector that I think would give me the best chance of locating it should I walk over the top of its location and I have decided on this unit.

I figure I will be able to purchase it in about a month, just in time for the snow to be gone at its 4200 foot elevation.

Thanks for your inquiry and I?ll keep ya posted on my search.

Stay safe,

Steven

I've got the Jeotech led one.  It's the base unit of the line from Makro.  Nice MD and yes it does go deep!  But it does not like junk fields and is difficult (an art) for the ground balancing.  (Turkish two-step)  If you are in an area with little or no trash, and you have a big! shovel and truly love to dig, then this MD is for you!... it also detects voids in the earth as well... not very well, but well enough to make the dig interesting!

They got some detectors from over the seas (europe) that look promising.  Google Blisstool ltc 48 and Farmet x1 they look deep .One is from romania or such and the other over by Pakistan?Huh?  Different size heads for depth.

Could you please elaborate on how deep and large the voids it detected were? Have you ever come across tree roots or rocks which had been detected as voids?

Tree roots... no, not yet anyway.. Marmot dens and small animal dens it can detect with ease.  I have found a small tupperware container at 16 inches!

Deep Cache Hunting Detector?
« on: January 01, 2007, 01:18:40 PM »

I have been researching a buried loot cache for 3 years now and I believe I've narrowed it down to a specific area of about 100 yds square. What I need now is a good deep penetrating detector that will have no problem finding gold bars or coins at around 5 feet down

see the dates on these posts? if this clown had a serious bone in his xxxxxxxx body, he could have dug up an entire state by now without a detector. If you really thought there was a treasure there, you would have dug that xxxx with a harbor freight pinpointer in one hand and your kids sandbox shovel in the other......xxxx please...........health problems for 4 years and using dowsing hmmm........give me the map I'll dig it and give you half what I find, you can lay on a cot next to the site and watch lol

Its good to read that stuff and to comment just think about what you say. We have several women and young folks here we need to think about. We also have folks from all over the world here and what some may find funny or just normal conversation others may take as an insult. It happens to us all, I have had to edit many of my own post made in the heat of the moment as most of us have.
