Go Up Go Down

I have been researching a buried loot cache for 3 years now and I believe I've narrowed it down to a specific area of about 100 yds square. What I need now is a good deep penetrating detector that will have no problem finding gold bars or coins at around 5 feet down

I've looked at the Whites TM-808 and the Discovery TF-900 and they both seem to be pretty much what I'm looking for.

Any suggestions or personal experiences would be greatly appreciated.

Were not talking about ham sandwiches here! Were talking about alot of money for these detectors and I want to make sure I make a good choice for my needs.

Thanks in advance,

Steven

The two detectors you mention will probably do the job but will take time to cover all that ground. The other type detector I had in mind was a pulse induction with a large coil. A lot of these machines can be customized with regards to the coil size. The guy who found the meteorites in Kansas was using a Lorenz with a 10ft coil. The PI's will also eliminate any highly mineralized ground you might encounter.

I think I better leave out the bobcat! LOL

The cache is on the side of a mountain in a US Federal protected forest. They don't even allow chainsaws in the area.

Thanks just the same.

Steven

You could still use a Pulse Induction MD. It would certainly do the job much faster then a two box. Lorenz and there's another brand called Pulse Star 2 which is supposed to be good- but I can't vouch for it.

I know the guy in Kansas is winding down his operation detecting for meteorites and might be willing to make some kind of deal on the use of a Lorenz PI. I don't know him personally but I can get his email address so you can contact him and tell him what you're up to.

It's hard to beat a data logger coupled to a 2-box for scanning a large area.

oRo,

I've been looking at that combination and it sure seems to be exactly what I'm looking for and the cost isn't out of sight at about $1200 for it all. For the serious treasure hunter, that is a fair amount to spend in order to get the job done.

The last thing I want to happen is to walk over the top of a fortune and miss it!

Thanks,

Steven
