As for the copperheads, a man at chyurch was bitten three months ago and had the anti-venom shot within one hour. His hand swelled to three times it's normal size and is still not quite back to normal.

I keep coming back to this post and evertime I think  Idea...detecting hazards??... Frist thing that keeps intering my mind is  (to me) the number one rule of detecting...Get permission! Without it, it could create quite a hazard  Fight !! I had permission to hunt this land. Un-knowingly, the land changed hands and while detecting, I found the new owner did'nt want anyone on his land. So now, once a year, I get permission in writing from the private land owner to hunt private grounds.

That is a good thought to have. I have a feeling that around my area I will have to watch out for hunters. So when I go out I will have to worry about being mistaken for a deer or even worse a squrrel. Undecided

In many parts the world, squirrels are just rats with a good PR person.
I recall some years back, while living in Louisiana, shooting and eating a squirrel, it was tasty, off the BBQ.
In the Pacific NW, Blackberry vines, otherwise known as DNA collectors, can take a bite out of your flesh,
as well as mark up your MD if you are hunting in areas where people like to pick those berries.

Squirrels are rodents and good for nothing, all they do is cause damage , I shoot as many as possible.
tired of them eating thru the radiator hoses of the vehicles and all the other damage they cause.

We have Wood Rats here.    If your car or truck sits still for more then a few days the little chits move in.

Wire, Rubber you name it gets turned into fluffy bedding in the most hard places to get to.
